Qualifying Final Brumbies v Hurricanes (3rd v 4th) Sat 7th June @ GIO Stadium 7.35pm AEST

The first half had me a bit confused.

Kerefe (legend of a player) or however you spell it was 4m offside at one ruck no call at all. He was past lonergan in line as the ball came out. Brumbies slightly offside, penalty all half. Blow the bloody whistle. Touchies do your job.

Love gets tackled. Releases the ball never gets back up and grabs it again and berry said he released so it's ok. Now you can release and grab it again on the ground ? What ?

These calls just don't go Aussies way. They are not even 50/50 calls.

Apart from this I thought berry was good.

Ollie is a very good sub in the middle. Man he played well off the bench. Solid. Coming or the bench and playing like that makes a big difference when youre up in the game.

Tools kick chase has to make argument for wallaby selection. He is so quick the receiving player never gets a chance to move or offload.

Does Bobby V play 6 for wobs? Has to be mcreight Wilson Bobby V right ?

Brumbies better side tonight. Cracker of a game.

That's a pretty good win, not really a bad performance out there though the lineout wobbles are a worry. Aside from the usual suspects I thought Lonergan and Noah were exceptional. Noah in particular will get minimal love on here but if Donaldson or Lynagh produced that game in a semi vs a kiwi team there would be no shortage of ejaculate spilling through the match thread. Contestable kicks perfect, ball playing continues to improve and offering more of a run threat as well.

Ryan Lonergan again put in a very impressive effort. Managed the Brumbies game well and finished on top of Roigard which is no mean feat. Of course, others will say he is playing behind a dominant pack and if only the No 9 of their choice had that luxury. Lonergan is definitely in the top two No 9s in the country and probably best suited of them all to start a game.

Jimmy Slipper is another who has continually impressed this year. A big part of that "dominating" scrum and very busy and effective around the ground. As good as Angus Bell is, right now the Wallaby front row probably should be Slipper, Pollard and Ala'alatoa.

Anyone know why Declan Meredith missed the game. Pretty sure Jack Debreczini was a late replacement on the bench.

So the Brumbies defensive structure is for their wingers to miss on on one tackles? That defensive structure won't win test matches
They had an in defence which created space on the right wing. It's a defensive structure and it leaves the winger having to make up a heap of ground to make a tackle when the ball manages to get wide

I tell you what. When he took that tackle with 20 seconds left instead of kicking shows he has a good head on him. I can't say the other options would have taken that tackle

Earlier Facebook post

‘Jack Debreczeni comes onto the bench to replace Declan Meredith, who is ill with a virus.’

It was a good win, but settle

Slipper has been good this year but he was well off the pace in tests last year. I am not sure if he had a 'bad' year, was unsuited to Joe's style or if he was playing injured.

Lineout performance today was woeful. Pollard is good around the ground, but can't afford those lineout wobbles against the lions.

Kicking game from Lonergan, Wright and Lolesio was very good and a big part of the win. If Lonergan can produce that level of performance again next week, he'd be looking pretty good for the wallabies 9 jersey, with Tate off the bench.

For all the yapping about Brumbies not getting any Rebels, two of your best were Feliuai and Tualima (with your third being Melburnian Valetini).

anyway, good win. Stellar kicking, how come Lolesio can’t clear like that for the Wallabies? Loved Slipper and Ala'alatoa getting meat pies, an auspicious game.

Good win for Brumbies, thorughly deserved. Looked to me to have a pretty focused game plan and stuck to it. I like seeing teams use their strengths etc, know your game and use it. Even as Canes man I enjoyed the way they played.
For Canes we were really beaten in forwards, especially at set piece, but c'est la vie, that's the way it goes, better team won. We were struggling I thought in second row, and neither hooker had great days, played to their ability, but really both are NPC level maybe and that's no insult, just fact.

I will watch next week no doubt, but be reasonably neutral, and all things being equal I will be in Levin at oldtimers day for my old club, celebrating 30 years since the team I managed won the comp etc.
