NSW AAGPS 2025 (banter and commentary)

Up and In

Chris McKivat (8)
Shore, at full availability, have these current 1st XV injuries (there are other 2nds players injured not mentioned here):
Armati (back for Green after promoted from 2nds), Galligan, Sidwell, Reardon (back from 2nds for Frape after finger injury), Bass and Callagan
The 1st choice team on paper would most probably be (bold currently injured): Jarrett/Baxter/Armati - Galligan/Sidwell/Reardon/Stock - Clout - Greig/Bass - Robertson/Francis - Wendt/Hockey/Callaghan

The Chairman

Nev Cottrell (35)
Well done to those selected in representative teams.

For those who did not make the team they thought they should have, heads up high. There will be plenty more representative rugby to be played so keep working on your craft.

Glad to see that the Newington back-line has been imported in to the Firsts.

Anitela-Tsioussis and King are personal favourites of mine. Sharp attacking flair with creativity. They work together well, and with the big man O’Connor one outside that is a dangerous backline.

CAS should be strong this year, so hopefully we get another quality game like last year.

Once D’Almeida comes back I have an inkling that Wendt goes into the centres, sending Robertson down into the 2s.

This influx of returners is going to spread some love through the ranks for Shore, especially in the backs. Good news for the 2s and 3s.

Glazer here,

Well done on the boys selected in their respective teams and good luck for the upcoming games.

HALFWAY REPORT:
Following the recent games the table stands at: (as i'm aware)

1. Riverview
2. Kings
3. Newington
4. Joeys
5. Scots
6. Shore

Some very interesting games have been played, standouts are the Kings win against Shore, the Joeys win against Shore, and the Kings win against Scots. Scots put up a great fight only to be denied by the kings defence, they could've scored 6 maybe 7 times that game, but kings were too good.

The trial games should be interesting with some people missing out on 1st XV combined teams, unlucky selections for Jaykob Mcrynnon (B), Oliver Greig (E), Buddy Latham (N), Ollie Brooks (J), Angus Teseiro (I), Ted Perrington (I), and Ethan Cook (E). I hope the teams get 'fixed' this week so some of these boys get into the team they deserve to be in.

Overall the first half of the season has been Massive and I hope the season is as Long as it seems the forums have been Fading away as people become disinterested in schoolboy rugby as the season goes on. Anyways, going into the school holidays I hope injured players start to come back onto the field to get game time before the season restarts, but before then, I hope VBC and others help revive the forum.

Its been interesting, could be back soon.
Glazer out.

3rd XV Round 3 Report
Well, the final round before the break went as predicted – all three undefeated teams remained undefeated and moved further ahead in the competition. Kings, Joeys & Riverview all won their games, and it has to be said that after three rounds played and four rounds remaining, the season is likely over for the other teams. Is that a brave prediction? Probably not, as it is extremely difficult to win this competition with two losses. The current ladder is: View, Joeys, Kings - 6; TAS - 4; Shore, Scots - 2; Grammar, High - 0.

Riverview 28 d TAS 26
What a battle this was in Armidale, and thanks to @Jim Belshaw for the excellent match report. TAS led 19-7 at half time but were unable to hold on in the second half despite their best efforts and Riverview scraped home. A great win by Riverview in a tough away fixture to retain their unbeaten record. Riverview will host the undefeated Kings side in round 4 on 26 July and TAS will have a break as they have already played their round 4 clash against High which they won. Congratulations to Oscar Saunders from TAS who was picked in the AAGPS 3rd XV.

Kings 31 d Grammar 5
Kings march on undefeated after three matches while Grammar are well and truly done for the year. A shame for Grammar but they have lost their first three matches and host Joeys in Round 4, so it does not get any easier. Kings are very well positioned for their top of the table clash with Riverview next term. That should be a cracker.

Scots 39 d High 0
I thought High might get a bit closer to Scots in this match so well done to the lads from Bellevue Hill for such a convincing result and their first win of the season. Scots have already lost to Kings and Joeys, so that puts them in a difficult position on the premiership table and likely too far back. High have been putting up better showings this year but are still chasing their first win. They have a rest until they play Shore in round 5 while Scots travel to Shore in Round 4.

Joeys 52 d Shore 5
What a convincing win to Joeys to remain undefeated and virtually end Shore’s hope of retaining the Col Windon Shield in 2025. I wish I had been there to see it, but thanks to @The Chairman and @wisemaan for updates on the day. Shore will host Scots in round 4 while Joeys will travel to Rushcutters Bay for a rematch of their trial against Grammar.

I hope everyone enjoys the break and the combined games.

That is rubbish, on form Robertson at 12 is their best back, he tops the tackle count most games and is tough as teak, the game he didn’t play New put on 45 points, they brought him on and New didn’t score another point!

Agreed he has been the best option at 12 and Dalmedia offers some much needed size to a smaller backline.

Again beautiful conditions at tas for the rugby. Cool, sunny with no wind. Tas seconds and iggies 5th played a 12 all draw. As already noted iggies thirds defeated tas firsts 28 to 26 in a very close match. Iggies scored quickly after the start and I thought the tas forwards were going to have their work cut out for them to contain the iggies backs. Working mainly through the forwards tas then established a degree of dominance. Half time tas19 iggies 7. Iggies scored straight after the break. Tas then scored an unconverted try. Tas were tiring, giving penalties away. Iggies scored again to gain the lead. Tas were attacking at full time but to no avail.
Keep these up please Jim, great write up and a breath of fresh air.
