On a base contract like he's probably on there's probably not much reason to get in the way of any release even if there's not much being offered to buy out his contract. It's also possibly he wasn't on a full year contract and instead just given something for the season + Lions with a chance of upgrading if he made his mark. Letting him go now frees up room to focus on players coming in for next year over super AU.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out with some of the more established departures though. I wouldn't want Blyth released early to the tahs unless they buy out the remainder of his contract in full, for example. Particularly given they didn't come to the table on a loan of Kailea this season.

Was more thinking it leaves Brothers in the lurch a bit.at this time of the season but thats amateur vs professional gig i guess. Reds made it pretty clear through selection that he wasnt wanted so cant blame him looking for opportunity, be nice to finish QPR season though

Might be talking out of turn since I don't know the scope of responsibility covered by BJRU employees, but 260k doesn't sound like an exorbitant budget for 5+ full time or more part time workers knowing what QLD government administrative officers get paid.

Rugby continually expects the grassroots to do more with less and then is surprised when our offerings don't measure up to league, AFL, or soccer.

The $1M for Souths was approved under the previous Government due to the work of the Souths Committee and local member Matt Bailey. I'm glad that Tim Mander didn't reneg on the grant, seeing that Matt Bailey was returned in the electorate.

Joe Kelly was fighting pretty hard for the Easts funding too. And the GPS upgrade was delivered by Labor.
Good to see the LNP back those in, and also to provide some money for Brothers, whether we like them or not they are probably the most important club in the comp and their facilities are deadset rubbish. Would be good to see an upgrade there.
The ARU recently hired another club development guy I believe, hopefully whoever that person is works closely with all clubs to provide advice and leverage the Olympic and World Cup opportunities. We only get one shot at this!

*Mail Bag* - Expect a new head coach at Sunnybank next season. Not that Rob Riori hasn't done a good job of getting his Dragons back on an upward trajectory, yet with a new DOR coming in, expect a change in the HC role as well. Also, chat that a certain assistant at Sylvan Road won't be staying around for another year. Is all well in the Norths Nest? Hearing, despite a more competitive year, it's not all a happy camp, but Coach Ritchie is a survivor. Perhaps that assistant at Wests may end up at either Sunnybank, maybe Norths, but if there is to be a change at Yoku Road he could be the man to rebuild GPS.

Rob Roiri has done an excellent job so far. Lower grades are full with a couple of them performing, colts 1 is decent with good coaches in place. Would be silly to move him now that they're building to something.
