Wallabies 2025

Brumby Runner

Jason Little (69)
I am hopeful that after tomorrow night we'll have another name in the mix. Coming up against Fin Russell is a frightening challenge, but if he takes his opportunity and plays a good game it could be the start of a big career. Even to be a late inclusion in the squad would be an enormous achievement.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Meredith but surely not BR. With Donaldson and Lynagh in the squad we have to bring in an experienced hand. One for the future though sure.

I know you’re a big Brumbies fan but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to now bring some experience in given how green Lynagh and Donaldson are. Doesn’t need to be JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor). Maybe Foley. But Lynagh, Donaldson, and Meredith is crazy green.
Yeah I'm only really joking about Meredith. I don't mind that much who they bring in, as long as neither O'Connor nor Foley gets anywhere near the #10 jersey. Bench is fine.

It's easy to romanticise a former player's performances when the current stocks look thin, but with the best will in the world (and acknowledging they did great things at club level or in other positions), they were two of the worst starting 10s the Wallabies have had.

I actually think Debreczeni is a worthwhile consideration. He is such a solid player who always give a 6 - 7 out of 10. He is the perfect mould for the wallabies and a way for us to play in a different style.

All the others are more of the same.

Meredith is a 15.
Donaldson is a great 22 and his best wallaby games have been at 15.
Edmed is a 12 we are trying to force into 10. But he would be a classy 12

Surely it's unlikely to be JOC (James O'Connor) or Foley called in. RA / Schmidt seem to have decided to draw a line in the sand with an eye towards the next RWC and a desire to invest in the local players. If either were the next to be called in you would have expected them to be in either the AUNZ game or at the very least around the squad in some advisory/mentor role.

You've got to think Edmed will be the next to be called in if he puts on a good showing in the AUNZ game?

I'm curious how Lynagh is tracking. Was a shame not to see him in the Reds final game.

Debreczeni is an interesting one. He's a bit like Jonno Lance for me. Reasonable (ie. solid) without ever having been outstanding.

Nah, 2023 was the other young 10 who didn't re-resign with Australian rugby and then had a spinal injury
It’s felt a bit what could have been over the last decade or so with players like Carter Gordon, Will Harrison, Isaac Lucas.. and the never really made-it’s like Andrew Deegan, Mack Mason or Sam Greene to name a few.

I thought I read C. Gordon’s on the mend from his surgery which was nice to hear.
