Shute Shield 2025

Sydney Uni might have THE WORST field in prem rugby in the country.

Good lawd it's in a state. It's the game on GEM v Norths if anyone fanices a look without going on Stan.

I gave up going there many years ago, the facilities for the hoi polloi are dreadful. Members are catered for. Maybe it has changed now, we live in QLD and will never visit Camperdown again. Unless they pick us up and transport us by limos and private jets as appropriate.

I heard they spent $2 million on it to make it 50/50 real/synthetic. I know some players were saying it was really good so something must've really stuffed up in recent times.

I'm reluctant to ask this question but here goes, assuming the Vuni Fifita who came off the bench for Easts last game is the same person who was part of the Easts points controversy last year, how come he's now only 1 player point whereas last year he was 11?

Anyone know?

BTW, Easts would have still sneaked in at 98 points if he had been 11 points.

There has been growing interest in where Eastwood Rugby will be based in the coming season and I am pleased to provide an update.

Thanks to cooperative discussions with North Ryde RSL, Eastwood Rugby has secured a temporary extension of our time at TG Millner Field. This means that Eastwood Rugby will remain based at TG Millner for the rest of 2025, and for all or part of the 2026 season.

Farnham like.

I do see the post underneath is a positive direction though:

One assumes the extension is for time to complete any works to a functioning standard. I think long term that can be a fantastic home for Eastwood and tap even further into the Oakhill, Kings, Dural Rugby playing populations. A lot of development to be done around that specif spot as well which could drive some engagement. Get a Clubhouse like Easts going there and it's Eastwood to the moon.

Or *start* any works TBH - been a while since I drove past but they hadn't broken ground at the old Pony Club site last time I looked.

It will be interesting to watch things as they unfold, as I'm informed there is still a lot of community pushback so compromises might have to be made. Hills Council are under a lot of pressure to make it a Community Facility - not just The Republic Of Eastwood.

A similar conversation has been happening at the facility where the Renegades sit in Kellyville Memorial Park vis-à-vis Parra Eels.

Therefore the chances of getting a clubhouse that belongs to Eastwood only will take some doing.

No work commenced yet - it's just out for tender at this point. And yes, the current DA is just for fields and some basic facilities, no clubhouse as such.

Interesting yet again, do you know how to access OCTA, as quoted in the response from the independent review last year. Would be interested to see the ratings of players such as Jack Grant and Fergus Lee Warner as the source of truth?
