Barker 15As won't be competitive and probably just concede that age group.
Barker wait until the Gen Blue 15s side is announced and then swoop on as many players as they can. (As do most of the other schools).
They have already recruited Tommy Jackson who is playing up in the 16s and Lorimar Seuseu who already plays in 1sts.
In addition to many of the comments being made around Barker 15A. My son has told me that Barker have pulled they're 15A game against Auggies and will instead play Auggies 15B. Augs have now arranged for they're 15A to play against Joeys 15A on that same day.

Wow. So withdrawing from 2 of the 3 casisa games will make it extremely difficult for Barker to finish on top.

Barker only cares about one grade.

Who is withdrawing from playing Joeys 15As to make the switch happen?
Joeys is due to play Newington first round next term. Newington has been weak in this age group, partly because the year 9 boys go on camp but rugby isn’t strong until the seniors (!) so i guess maybe they want a better test

Yes this would be accurate as Newington have forfeited 2 or 3 of they're 15A games as they simply dont see themselves to be strong enough to compete with other GPS schools in that age group.

The annoying thing about it is that an approach like this from Barker is only going to cause the CAS-ISA comp to fail, when every sane person on this forum knows that it is the only viable way forward.

If Barker didn't want to play their 13-15As in the top tier of the CAS-ISA comp, then they should have withdrawn those age groups from the top tier and let Trinity (for example) have their spot in those age groups.

Yeah I tend to agree. Waiving the white flag before things have started isn't a good look. Pats are going to have their work cut out for them with the next three games they have to play but as of yet I haven't heard any of them complaining about the strength of the opposition.

From what I can make out at the CAS website, whilst the barker 15s struggled against Waves, Knox and Trinity, they secured wins against Aloys and Cranbrook (I think). They're not a lost cause by any stretch and yet their school is making out that they are.

As long as no safety issues that is poor form by Barker to pull out, pending flogging or not. Will give them insight into the stars their recruiters have missed as well.
Agreed - safety is an important issue and not to be sneezed at. But if you've already gone up against some strong teams and beaten others, I just don't see how they could simply quit straight off the bat. Sure, they may not be world beaters but winning games is a sign of some degree of competence.

There could be injuries and the like and that's something we don't know, but I still think it's poor form.

Correct, they did beat Cranbrook and Aloys. Both sides weren't that bad its just that Waverley and Trinity are on a different level with Knox a couple of rungs down and Barker not far off.

Its a pathetic decision in my opinion and they are just doing what they normally do, wait for the u15 Gen Blue and Sydney Side (out now) to be announced and then start making calls. I know of families that sons have been in u15 Gen Blue sides - every family has received calls from a number of schools.

And Aloys vs Gregs.

So that leaves Cranbrook vs either of Stannies or Pius.
Still don't know how they are going to sort that extra ISA team out. Do they just have a BYE that week? Would seem a bit of a crappy outcome if that was the case. Either that or they will try to scrounge around for some spare GPS teams to play

Here's my opinion on all this.

1. I am a BIG fan of this new comp with the 2 tiers and the way it is designed to work.
2. It is not a new thing for the ISA schools to play the CAS schools, and the GPS schools, year in year out.
3. So you would logically think this is all about the further development of these 2 associations via a new comp, that should, mean a lot more than just trial games.
4. That being the case, then you would have to believe that when all the schools signed up for this new comp there would be a common understanding of it's purpose. That purpose surely was to pit schools together of similar ability, across the grades, to develop the depth of rugby across ALL the age groups. So when 1 school, ie Barker, decides to cherry pick the ages that it thinks it has a chance to win, and pull out of any ages it thinks it can't win, then that is very poor form, and surely cuts against the whole purpose of developing the grass roots.

I didn't comment on this to have a shot at Barker, and there may be Barker supporters who agree, but if my school did this then I would be bloody furious.
I hope this becomes very evident to the organisers etc, and is rectified in the the future.
