QLD Premier Rugby 2025

GPS looked a different team yesterday with a proper professional standard flyhalf.

Big Taqele looked a shell of his early round form. I said it before but I’m not sure why Norths don’t play him closer to the action in attack and just have him run over blokes. He was essentially unstoppable when he scored his try in that position.

The biggest takeaway of the ladder is seeing UQ in second last position but same amount wins as top 4 team Bond.

bonus points matter and I suspect top 2, top 4 might come down to a tiebreaker because of competition points being equal

As a Sunnybank supporter, I wish them all the best and a new premier coach is very welcomed.

may be a great person, but not a great coach. Not proven to do anything with Sunnybank in my opinion.

3 years head coach, currently last, last 2years down the bottom as well. Struggle to see the upward trajectory.

I recall he placed a lot of blame on the players he had initially for poor results, then got a lot of new players and hello..still sitting last.. pls move on
is that his son playing 9? If it is i can understand why they are anchored to the bottom, what a terrible half back

Technically not QPR related since he's with the Brumbies instead of UQ these days, but Kye Oates is getting a run with the First Nations and Pacifika team.

Think it’s fine to post here

would of thought Glenn might of been a chance being a former rebel with the game played in Melbourne & being a player of pacifika heritage.

gotta assume it was for contracted players…

Sorry to break this to you, but Brad Wilkin probably doesn't excite people as much as Quade Cooper.
..that's because very few people have seen him ply his trade live week in and week out. He is a toiler, carver, metre-eater and all out beast. He and Christian Poidevin were exemplary for San Diego.

Brad Wilkin is a fine player in about 2015 he and Michael Gunn were both running around in the Brisbane NRC side and would have been good to have seen them go further with their careers. Wilkin was part of Aus A squad a couple of years back.

Hegarty was great definitely got GPS home along with their back row after a tight first 65muns.

Flanagan smith sliding into 10 for norths very well too.

Are Wests and Brothers going to get the influx of Reds players back for the finals. If they have been involved in matches against the BIL and then have to take their RUPA time off the cavalry may not be back for finals.
If they are carrying any niggle the Reds will tell them to sit out.
JOC (James O'Connor) can’t be the halves saviour for the filth because he won’t qualify for finals as a non-Reds player.

there will be players coming back. Just not sure when. QRU have scheduled a game QLD Verse Tonga on Friday 15th. Day before the first weekend of finals. Could make that weekend more difficult for any of the teams competing.

gee that doesn’t sound ideal - reds rugby players not participating in club finals because of an exhibition match

Gotta remember the QRU employ the Reds players, not the QPR.

I agree with your point sir.

from a commercial standpoint and from a more quality talent opponent for the reds

I guess my issue Phil is the qpr calander never seems to be optimal to fit around a 12 months of reds rugby/wallabies/touring

a mid week Tonga fixture would be ideal but in saying that - players union would probably mandate a period of rest
