Refs this international season have been so incredibly confusing — they consistently completely miss things that seemingly everyone else sees.

Have they been instructed to let the game flow and then let the TMO intervene if they see fit?

If so it does the complete opposite of creating a free flowing game. We’re seeing the TMOs intervene every four minutes to call play seventeen phases back to make us watch nine replays of the blue number six picking his nose and wiping it on an opposition player.

It’s exhausting.

Said this elsewhere...but whilst it can be a bit annoying I'd much prefer BOK wild west style of refereeing to the overly pedantic NH style. At least the former can generally get some type of consistency, it is just impossible to catch everything if you insist on constantly blowing the game up and checking everything in minutiae. It also puts way less fatigue in the game and is a much worse product. Only the batshit crazy men in blazers from the North who like nodding off in their twickenham debentures enjoy these endless games.
