ISA 2025

Pius aren't playing Aloys, only Trinity and Cranbrook
That's a shame then, so it's not a full 7-team comp.

In the 15As I suspect Auggies v Joeys will be an awesome match, and who knows whether it's driven by Barker or Newington, but seems like a reasonably flexible solution to get the boys the most competitive games.

I assume Barker will play Newington 15As that week, with both technically forfeiting their respective comps.

Here's my opinion on all this.

1. I am a BIG fan of this new comp with the 2 tiers and the way it is designed to work.
2. It is not a new thing for the ISA schools to play the CAS schools, and the GPS schools, year in year out.
3. So you would logically think this is all about the further development of these 2 associations via a new comp, that should, mean a lot more than just trial games.
4. That being the case, then you would have to believe that when all the schools signed up for this new comp there would be a common understanding of it's purpose. That purpose surely was to pit schools together of similar ability, across the grades, to develop the depth of rugby across ALL the age groups. So when 1 school, ie Barker, decides to cherry pick the ages that it thinks it has a chance to win, and pull out of any ages it thinks it can't win, then that is very poor form, and surely cuts against the whole purpose of developing the grass roots.

I didn't comment on this to have a shot at Barker, and there may be Barker supporters who agree, but if my school did this then I would be bloody furious.
I hope this becomes very evident to the organisers etc, and is rectified in the the future.
It’s Barker what do you expect

Kinross shaping up to play Trinity this week, in what seems like a great game. Not sure how Trinity's season has gone, but coming off the break, Kinross will be searching for a win, while Trinity will try to remain strong and take them down. Should be a close game, I'm going Kinross by no more than 5. Other games this week?

Trinity are really strong in the 1s and 2s this year. I suspect Kinross 1s will struggle, but I think there will be some wins in the younger age groups for them.

Wishing them all the best for this Saturday. Are they at home?
No, away this week, 1st and 2nds playing at Concord oval, apparently that a big clubs home ground? I don't think any teams are actually playing at Trinity, not sure why. Wondering if anyone knew about Trinity's lower opens sides. Like 3rds and 4ths.

OK so we've now worked out who's playing who in CASISA Black:

Kinross v Trinity @ Summer Hill and Concord:
A stern test for Kinross this Saturday playing the CAS big improvers Trinity. Trinity placed 3rd in 1st XV so I expect they will continue with their strong showing. Trinity's outside backs are a highlight so if Kinross are tow in, they'll need to keep it in the forwards and kick for territory. Predict a Trinity by 10+
Program Result: Things are less clear here, Whilst Trinity should account for the 1s, 15s and 13s, I expect Kinross to take it to them in the 2s, 16s and 14s. It will be tight but I expect a 4-2 win to Trinity

Aloys v Gregs @ Willoughby
This will be a great match up. To eager teams willing to have a crack at each other and I suspect it will be a close game. Aloys have had their troubles this year whilst Greg has had some wins and some close losses. I think on the balance of probability, we'll see a small win to Gregs in the 1sts.
Program Result: The action will be in the younger age groups here. Aloys had a reasonable show of it in the younger age groups as did Gregs. I'm thinking that its going to be close but I'm going to say a 4-2 win to Gregs

Stannies v Cranbrook @ Cranbrook
Match of the round for sure. Two teams that will be cranky that they didn't qualify for the Red so the games will be eager for sure. Stannies have a quality first XV team and lost some games by very small margins. As I look at the CAS table, Cranbrook only got up over Aloys so I'm going to make the educated guess that Stannies will have too much firepower for Cranbrook this week. Stanies by 5+
Program Result: A tighter contest awaits here. Cranbrook have strength in the 2s, 16s and 13s whilst Stannies are strong in the 1s, 15s and 14s. Predicting a 3-3 draw

Concord Oval is West Harbours main ground (and training facility for the NRL West Tigers).

Trinity main oval has been out of action all year due to a new building project adjacent to it.
