Gosh is that Archie Mesritz kid special, State high honestly just couldn't handle nudgee and their sheer massJimmy,
Have not had a chance to watch that one yet but it is on my list of things to do. Do you have any thoughts on it?
Cheers, D.B
So not convenient for comp that they aren't a team full of skinny little rural kids anymore? Can't wait to see how the 'New Zealand TGS' go this week. Keen to watch Tusi rip in.
I’m imagining its going to be like that one uncle turning up to family christmas at Nan’s and Pop’s in Toowoomba…Three Words: Is Hollyman ready to ruin BBC Old Boys Day
It sure does add to the element of competition that we all love in the GPS, as a TGS oldboy it does pain me that we aren't fielding homegrown talent anymore, but it is also nice to see the school that I hold so dearly be able to compete against the other schools that seemingly are importing every second kid and handing out scholarships like they are a sausage sizzle at Bunnings on a brisk Toowoomba weekend. So not convenient for comp that they aren't a team full of skinny little rural kids anymore?

Gday Tim,Hey Haz,
As a strong advocate for school boy footy it is very disappointing to see how schools are handing out scholarships like flyers. Gone are the days of Schoolboy rugby systems BUILDING a premiership contending team, instead we are seeing an influx of boys on scholarships in struggling GPS schools. Gone are the days of rugby programs putting in the effort into their younger age groups trying to develop them into future 1st XV prodigies. However it is good to see schools like TGS and BGS giving boys a chance at a greater education that they may not have previously received. It does make the 1st XV and 2nd XV just that little bit more competitive. Thoughts?

Mate, there is lots of home grown talent on show, more than half of the firsts have been is the school since year 7, some since the junior school, the imports have just help create depth that we never had and battles for position that make everyone play better. Nothing like the feeling around a school on Monday after the firsts have had a good win. Skipper is young bloke from Gundy in year 11 that has been there since year 7. He bleeds blue and gold!It sure does add to the element of competition that we all love in the GPS, as a TGS oldboy it does pain me that we aren't fielding homegrown talent anymore, but it is also nice to see the school that I hold so dearly be able to compete against the other schools that seemingly are importing every second kid and handing out scholarships like they are a sausage sizzle at Bunnings on a brisk Toowoomba weekend.

Totally agree - if you can’t beat em, join em but let’s prepare guidelines for an equal playing ground on that front one let coaching and culture determine the outcomeHey Haz,

You lost a player or two through injury for rest of season ?Grammar in your mouth.
TGS are coming for the premiership.
Lets Bang.
BGS at home round 3
What ahaha!? This list is chopped. Straight up drivel from your end mate... Nudgee are the clear winners this year and there's no debate. I'm pre calling the undefeated season and dusting off the shelf for trophy #46 as we speak. Try again champ. After watching all games last week and this week here are my thoughts based on the table as it is
1. IGS big cattle who physically can take on all comers. Were in first gear against Gt last week and second gear against Bshs and were given a scare. Relying on their size but not well drilled yet. Still seriously a chance of the premiership but lack the polish. Could definitely scare NC if they bring their best game.
2. TGS Outstanding last week against Bbc, next level up against a revived Tss. The team and the school are starting “to believe” and that is scary. They are getting better and more confident .The real deal this year. Nudgee trip up the range in round 8 will be interesting.
3.ACGS .incredibly impressed with how well drilled and up for the game last week and dominated TSS. Few stars, just a well drilled unit Showed they can handle any of the big teams on the day. This week in rainy games at BGS, they looked disinterested and showed too much respect to BGS. Very cautious, no attack. They have a week off and need to be ready to deal with a super confident TGS. Tough ask. ACGS could be an outside smokey for premiers yet but will need to get more energy against TGS.
4.NC Nudgee won convincingly against Bshs with “Barry “ a standout for me. However Bshs on a number of times pushed the Nc scrum around and disrupted lineout. The score was convincing if not flattering but plenty of improvement to be done and if too relaxed could got toppled by the physical sides TGS, IGS, TSS, BBC or even Gt or ACGS. I was underwhelmed by that BSHS performance if they are favourites for premiership.no doubt they will have worked on a lot in the week off
5. BBC were stunned up on the downs last week by TGS and whilst appeared back in control this week, ONE of my favourites for the wooden spoon GT really took it to them today and gave them another tough game. Their confidence is shot, and they will take some rebuilding. I suspect a premier is a stretch unless we see immediate improvement.
6.TSS were also stunned last week by Churchie who wasnt shown respect and TSS should have lost. TGS however Allowed TSS to bring their best out again. TSS are a very physical team and have much potential. When they click watch out but they look disjointed at the moment. TGS truly dominated and are beginning to believe . a much better games for TSS despite the loss and I can see their season improving.
7.BGS I really hoped for BGS this year, but todays game vs ACGS was very disappointing for both teams. Both teams looked disinterested and apart from a clever kicking game with the BGS half back , I saw nothing that resembles a BGS rebuild. I guess they won the penalty count overwhelmingly and their defence has definitely toughened up. I think they will improve as the season goes on.
8.BSHS I think this team deserves to be feared. Big cattle like IGS and showed up both last week v NC and this day vs IGS. Their scrum has the power to dominate any pack in the comp. Like IGS , not well drilled like NC, TSS BBC and ACGS. Too many breakdown of phases but a team to watch improve this year.
9. GT At home and with much hype last week, Gt took on IGS and from the fastest try in Gps history with the conversion going over for IGS at the 30 second mark, we knew then it was going to be a long season. Whilst BBC dominated them today, the Gt team did show some grit and will be a nuisance to others in the comp but cant see a premiership cup with two losses already.
enjoying the season so far.
