Straight up thoughts

- Scots number 1 is both a cheeky bugger and a player with a whole lot of heart. Went 110% the whole way.

- Scots’ moments of brilliance topped a compact team performance from Shore

- Lineouts is a must focus for Shore. Scrums were smart but can only get you so much reliable territory

- I am a bit worried we will not will a game this season. But with the Aus U18s at the helm im sure this worry will be put to rest.

- Shore’s outer backline looked a bit flat and were not as dynamic and powerful as the Scots ones.

Bassingthwaighte back im assuming?, I have not been up to date recently

Hockey (E) also had a bloody beautiful try of a bloody beautiful kick. Time on the clock was 41:33 if you want to have a watch.

Chairman's Player of the Round: 10. Finn Hannon (Joeys)

Ghattas was in the thick of it. As happy as a pig in mud.
His tryline defence was enormous along side Justice T as they repelled the Wookies time and time again.

3rd XV Round 4 Report
And then there were two…Riverview and Joeys retained their unbeaten status in this important round, with victories over Kings and Grammar respectively. Scots toppled Shore at Northbridge as I predicted and so with three rounds to go, the premiership picture is becoming clearer. The points after round 4:

Joeys, Riverview 8
Kings 6
Scots, TAS 4
Shore 2
Grammar, High 0

Riverview 31 d Kings 17
A terrific clash at Lane Cove where the lead changed numerous times in the first half. Riverview led 14-12 at the break and it was anyone’s match. But they scored two tries early in the second half with the wind at their backs and Kings could not catch them. Kings scored another good try in the second half, but Riverview shut the gate with a final try close to full time. Riverview defence was key in this match particularly close to their own line, and they deserved the victory. They remain undefeated and travel to Bellevue Hill to play Scots next round. Kings have a crucial match at home against the undefeated Joeys side and they need to win that to have any chance of winning the premiership.

Joeys 50 d Grammar 0
This was always going to be a tough assignment for Grammar, after their big trial loss to Joeys but from all reports it was an improved performance from them despite the margin. Joeys are cruising along and remain undefeated after four rounds. They travel to Gowan Brae next Saturday for match of the round against Kings on JS White. Grammar will be travelling to Armidale next weekend to play TAS and that will be another challenging match for them.

Scots 13 d Shore 7
Shore were coming off the back of a big loss to Joeys in round 3 and put up a good effort against Scots but the visitors made it two wins in a row with a close victory at Northbridge. Both teams are likely out of contention for the premiership, but Scots can cause some trouble when they play Riverview next week at Bellevue Hill. Shore should have an easier week with a match at home against High.

Strong disagree, great weaves from Hannon and an excellent try, but Folkes try way more skillful. 1:31.50 on the video.

Will be interesting to see if Hannon goes missing again against Riverview in a couple of weeks time. Dempsey neutralised him last time out.

I think the word 'missing' is a bit unreasonable and harsh when talking about Hannon's performance against Riverview. I think all players have their ups and downs and knowingly that he is only in year 10 (16 years old) + only his 2nd game in the 1st XV, as a collective I think we should be admiring his skillset and abilities from the past couple of weeks rather than throwing shade at the young fella.

And just to pull a few people's leg..... I'm gonna do it

As a Kings fan I’m anticipating Finn to have a blinder. Not sure how the Joe boys will manage the View forwards though. Here’s hoping. Big test this weekend for Kings to bounce backs against Joeys. Outplayed last weekend will rock their confidence and Joeys on the up.

He's a fantastic player no doubt, and will be a weapon for Joeys in the couple of years ahead if he stays uninjured. It wasn't all shade: "great weaves from Hannon and an excellent try", but Dempsey definitely won the battle with him last time out.

Yeah it's an interesting scenario. If Joeys beat Kings (which they have to) they are kind of helping Riverview in some ways. In that scenario, Riverview can win against Shore and Scots, and then the Joeys game isn't even a must win for the trophy, but simply icing on the cake.

I’m going with Hannon try of the season so far this young man has so much natural talent next 2 years is going to be good to watch

This weekend will be tricky.

Storm troopers at the Death Star is always tricky especially against the swamp monsters. Upset? Draw? Who would dare?
Kings Cattle taking on a rejuvenated Joeys cattle dogs at the Paddock. Joeys backline is ticking along like a Swiss clock.
Shoremen are now finding their groove being steered around park by the maestro once more. Can they bring down the wookies?
