Rugby Championship 2025: Wallabies v Argentina

Glad he's recovering but tbh he feels a long way back in the pecking order right now and if they can put the Argies away even further back. He like Lonergan can sit and wait for a chance. He's lucky he offers utility value.
Disagree totally Ghost. Noone has a lock on the 10 jersey. JOC (James O'Connor) back to bench and Lynagh now starting again after JOC (James O'Connor)'s two good stints at the helm v SA. Goal kicking v Lions and South Africa proving costly. I think James is extending his availability due to injury and once Donaldson is back, no doubt will head to England for his gig there. Edmed is the bottom of the pack in my opinion. Two big games ahead and as always, your star always shines brighter when you aren't playing... ridiculous as that is. I'm on record as not being hoodwinked by the Lynagh hype and run he gets due to his name as you all know but I'm more than happy to be proven wrong. I always hope that anyone playing for the Wallaby's plays well and we win. So go boys... bring it home!

Christie, in the Roar, implying that LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) isn't getting a run because of perceived poor discipline - although there doesn't seem to be a Schmidt qquote to back that up
It's a reasonable theory to put forward (even if his way of presenting it as established fact isn't), particularly when you consider Swain has also been passed over for the recent squads given his longer term reputation. May also part of why Paisami isn't getting a run off the bench when there are a few sides that probably would've been more balanced with him in the 23 jersey.

It's something I've been thinking about a bit with people calling for players like Swinton and Perese to be included now that there is no giteau law - I get the feeling Schmidt isn't too interested in gambling on their (lack of) discipline right now, but we might know more come the EOYT.

I'm not high on any of the 10s in Aus. It's probably our weakest position. Donaldson sits in that group of not high on any of them but given recent results he'd be the 3rd choice at best but has a higher chance of being in the 23 because he can cover 15 about as well as he plays 10.

His utility value is low really. A 10 who can play 15 at a pinch. His form at the start of the Super rugby this year was great but then dropped off. He'd be in my top 2 though.....him and Lynagh. JOC (James O'Connor) has been a great fill in due to injury. As I said, give him 5 starts at 10 and see how he goes. Has never had the luxury. More chance of sparking a backline. Goal kicking has been very good.

That's awesome. Regions love their sport and hopefully bodes well for the WC sales.

Rugby should take a Test every year outside the traditional homes. Townsville, Newcastle, Adelaide would be my main 3 and if Tassie ever gets the Stadium done throw them in as well. A Test that tours and gets people excited for the event.

Newcastle and Adelaide can get stuffed!

Seriously though, while it does look like tickets for tomorrow are moving now, I'd been keeping an eye on the site and tickets had been moving really slowly. They've had to drop the prices significantly in some sections, which seems to have pushed the sales along.

I think he'll walk back in ahead of Edmed, who Schmidt seems very reluctant to use. Donaldson's fullback coverage is probably a bit more important now with Wright out too, but I'm not sure he'll pass O'Connor and get back into the 23 straight away, maybe not until the EOYT.

A lot depends on what the long term planning looks like with O'Connor - it makes plenty of sense to use him right now, but realistically he probably needs to be phased out of the 23, unless they see him as a realistic option for the world cup.
Yes agree Wilson. Donaldson would be ahead of Edmed in the pecking order.

Once Donaldson returns from injury I think I read somewhere that O’Connor will then head to Leicester to fulfill his contract obligations. Donaldson and Lynagh will then battle it out through to the WC with Lolesio to possibly come back into the mix if and when he returns from Japan.

The Argie game is a tough sell. They have a great and loyal local support group, but it's pretty tiny, especially in comparison to locals who support NZ, SA, Lions, Eng, Ireland or the PIs etc

I finally got around to reading it, and I love that the headline points to a big reveal as to why he’s being left out only for the article to just be Doran’s speculation…

But having said that, it’s a reasonable point and an area of LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto)’s game that needs improvement.

And the team are starting to turn it around after being so ill disciplined under previous coaches.

Townsville just had it's first bit of moderate rain in months, and there's a bit of cloud cover about too. Humidity has been hovering at about 70-80% recently, and the rain has kicked it up a bit. Will likely be a bit humid if this cloud cover hangs about into tomorrow and probably be quite warm still at kickoff. I reckon the team the handles it the best will probably come out on top.

I was thinking about this in a general sense. It is not unreasonable at all to think a game in Queensland could be played at night in 26 degrees heat with 70% humidity and if the wind is still that hydration protocol will be triggered and QLD/Australia will have some home ground advantage eradicated.

I see your point, but even with additional hydration breaks the heat and humidity can seriously knock you about if you aren't used to it. It's a major advantage and a good reason to play games in Townsville more often!

I suspect it's not poor discipline ie getting yellow carded etc but as I see it more about giving away silly penalties.
I think he would be very useful on the bench against AB's, where we will need more grunt.
