Broadcast options for Australian Rugby

It's got a bit of novelty and they've done it well but sometimes the last thing Iv'e felt like when overseas is sitting around 70 other Aussies.

I always found it was a mixed bag when living in London - not what you wanted every week for sure, but great for the one off events like bled or origin

There's an Australian pub in New York set up by Hamish and Andy called Old Mates that usually has the EOYT games on, not sure how you'll go with the bled kick off times there though.

I watched the Lions game 2 here with about 40 or 50 other Aussies and a few brits. Not sure what you will get for a Bledisloe.

Question for the brains trust here. I'd like to keep watching rugby but the Stan costs have reached a point where I can no longer justify it. I'm guessing that I can queue up on commercial channels for WB matches but is there an alternative to Stan for Super Rugby?

Basically what I do with Netflix etc, if they got a series I want to watch, I sign up for a month or 2, and then throw it out again.

Do you have any extended family members or friends who also like rugby or the premier league? If you do you can share the costs of a subscription with 1 or 2 others.

Just for a different perspective, I look at the $32 / month as basically my part in funding pro rugby in Australia, and make sure to watch every game on Stan (not Nine).

They can see the actual viewership stats now - they don't need ratings data from a really small sample like Foxtel used to. So we need to both pay-up and watch

Despite my advice above I'm just eating the cost for 12 months.

Jan - Six Nations
Feb to June - Definitely need for Super
July to September - Need it to watch Wallabies on demand and non Wallabies RC matches.
October to November - Watch all the EoYT matches.

They're all unmissable for me.

Yep. And watch the replays and minis every now and then when I’m bored and want something on. Fun for me, good for their metrics.

Because they simply don’t care. Stan /ch 9 would be very annoyed.

Date & time were announced in December. If Ch9/ Stan or RA had an issue with it surely they'd have raised it and/ or gone public with their displeasure well before now?

I don't think they would really care. 1 test match amongst plenty of other great results for rugby in Aus this year.

There's probably no impact on number of subscribers for Stan and maybe they get 300k on FTA instead of 400k? It's a rounding error in the scheme of things.

And yet there's people on this & the Bled threads acting like it's an outrage & in some cases more proof that NZR are (& I quote) a bunch of fluffybunnys where RA are concerned.
