Queensland Reds 2026

The Ghost of Raelene

There was a big chat about this on Triple M before the game on Sunday arvo.

For me, chucking on a roof fundamentally changes the vibe of the place. I'd rather them add the extra 10k seats and build a mega grandstand.

It does sound like a roof is in serious consideration though as I am sure the non-sporting events would particularly prefer it and it may draw some of the larger acts who miss Brisbane.

Would they not consider chucking a roof into Vic Park stadium?
I swear roofs on existing stadiums is like high speed rail. Lets trot that one out boss.

CBUS still has corporate suites and all the trimmings etc.

I am sure there is some consideration that sending a game down there could result in an additional 5k bums on seats. There is a strong Polynesian community down the coast and throughout Logan/Beenleigh/Coomera so potentially if the draw made sense they could put the Moana game there.
Sure, but Stephen Moore and the rest of the bms Brisbane leadership group don't want to take their clients to Townsville, or drive home for an hour and a half from CBUS

Mate funnily enough Stephen actually sits on the board of Stadiums Queensland and I know for a fact would LOVE to be taking more games to regional areas.

He was up there for the Wallabies Townsville test match earlier this year as their spokesperson and was spruiking how good it would be for more Reds games to be played across regional QLD.

Yeah if the QLD Govt subsidise them to offset the match-day income they lose by hosting them there, as the state govt has done in the past.

it’s also why they’re unlikely to play on GC, QLD Govt aren’t going to subsidise that.

one game a year to Townsville is fine, but it’s all $$ at the end of the day that they need to weigh up.

Well if it’s any consolation to those regional areas, the GM of the Reds major sponsor is actively trying to make those deals happen through his involvement with that organisation.

Perhaps, but draw for 2026 has been released and it’s all Suncorp, maybe a discussion for 2027 season

Reds are playing Panasonic in Toowoomba next month, so regional areas aren’t missing out completely

But they get small crowds at Suncorp
Small? Not small by comparison to the other Australian Super Rugby teams, and still larger than any regional stadium would get.

regardless, Suncorp presents the largest profit margins. That’s the reality of it all… that’s why they’re playing every match in 2027…

average 15K is small in a 52K seat stadium, the other Aus super teams are pretty weak comparisons, the other Brisbane teams are way higher
