QLD Premier Rugby 2026

Very good recruiting by Brothers if they can land both Conway & Pritchard.
My mail is he went to Wests as that’s where the bulk of his friendship group were. Scarily, he has a few more years of colts but I doubt he will observe them as he’s obviously ready for the big dance now.

it will be interesting to see who may follow Phil Mooney(just coached them to a convincing Colts1 premiership at Wests) to Norths if any?

Brothers will be focussed on their Colts programme as they won’t want that wooden spoon again.

Elwee obviously involved with the rugby program at Nudgee, so he had the inside run to get a number of those blokes to Wests and having some pocket money didn't hurt.

Wests losing both Elwee and Mooney surely wasn't their plan if that happens, especially when you consider Mooney was shown the door.

Although it would align with what seems like a huge coaching exodus at the club. The women's coach is now at GPS.

As in, he has got it or he is keen on it? It would make sense for someone who is already involved in both school and club rugby to get it
I don't know anything about him going or not going for an Academy job, but don't think it would stop him coaching at Wests either way. Can't see a specialist coaching role having that bigger time commitment and Academy train during the day anyway

It's listed as a full-time role (around $120k) and heavily involved in Talent ID, among other duties. I can't see QRU wanting someone in that position also handling a 1st Grade Head Coach role, if only to avoid the optics of a 1st Grade head coach having direct contact with emerging talent. But if they did, I'm sure they would want that Head Coach to be connected to Brothers ;)

He's qualified for the role. I am sure there will be some strong applicants given the role and the salary so he would't be a sure thing. Nick Stiles would be another suited to the role.

Excuse my naivety here but is $120k for a role such as that a large salary in rugby world? Is that $120k plus or inclusive super.

Surely between Wests and Nudgee coaching he would be earning more?
Its a competitive package i'm told. I have no idea what Elwee gets paid. What coaches are getting paid in QPR and Shute would be an interesting read. Anyone got anything?

Unsure of exact numbers but closer to 100k than 200k for Prem Grade Head Coach. Assistants sub-100k. Vast majority of grade coaches are volunteers.

Director of Rugby compensation varies by club and whether they're expected to treat it as a full-time job and sole income source or also hold simultaneous employment elsewhere.

Shute Shield supposedly has more money floating around it in general but this is all 2nd hand hearsay.

100-120k for a HC. Assistants of 1st Grade on half of that and then it slides quickly but they usually pick up extras with Schools etc and it gives them a bit of spare time to volunteer for underage rep gigs which are good for the resume long term. You can earn more with some Schools jobs but the majority would be similar money.
