Ireland v Wallabies, Saturday 15/11 (Sunday morning Aus time)

Neck is treated the same in the framework.

I mean it's pretty bloody hard to get the neck only.

Above the shoulder line is what they're looking at

I think we have to start accepting that if we keep employing world class coaches, and we do, and they keep ending up with a 40% win rate, then it's not the coaches.

Point B is they may in fact be overachieving with our player pool

Nah I don’t accept this. Countries do more with less than us (Argentina, Scotland and Ireland). We are underachieving because of our player depth gets stretched and our coaches don’t prepare the players to consistently challenge other teams. You can see this with Laurie (Schmidt appointment) who’s running our defence which operates completely differently to nearly all other test teams (maybe even our super teams?) Our problem is we keep signing “historically” good coaches and think that they will turn this ship around. That’s been proven false. What we do need to do is to back a longer term plan. Schmidt has gone past his original tenure and it’s starting to show a bit. I’m not suggesting his heart isn’t in it but it sounds like it would be very difficult to coach fully with the family strains. The coaching handover to Kiss as well as better alignment with the super teams and continued development of the pathways is the only way out of this shit.
But in saying this, we’re probably just burdened by our successful world cups in the past which may have been us actually punching. We find ourselves outside the top 6 because all the other nations have caught up and we don’t really try anything different.

There was a story going around a few years ago about a rare post-Bledisloe beer catch up between the two teams.

Some of the ABs were flabbergasted at what our guys were getting paid.

Yeah the ABs aura keeps their salaries lower than they should be. Similar to how the storm and Geelong pay unders to stars chasing premierships.

I like the idea, KOB but perhaps not quite as many squaddies in the first XV. But, otoh that bench looks the goods as far as this Wallabies team, is concerned.

I think it would be an idea to now trial JAS at fullback at test level. Imo he's not showing enough development to stay in the 13 spot, and he hasn't looked too out of place at 15 for the Tahs. My other thoughts would be to stick with Faessler as starting hooker to allow him to work into some form, and maybe Daugunu to 12 (or 13 with Ikitau to 12 - I just prefer seeing Len at 13) and retaining Jorgo on one wing again to allow him to find some form.
JAS hasn’t the kicking game to play 15 at Test level imo. Neither has Jorgensen and it was another poor selection by Schmidt playing him at the back against Ireland considering the wet and blustery forecast. Lambs to the slaughter…

So, who would have picked at 15 and why. There more whingers at Joe in this chat than in the Barmey Army. Kellaway does not kick. Jorgo did today, some were good some not as good. I was Happy with the change as I felt we were getting little from Kells.

Amazing Ireland were bagging out their 10 comparing him to sexton
The bloke killed it
If we had him and a good 9 you could win that game
Seriously I would be throwing the check book at a nrl half like Katoa who is very talented and only couple of years out of rugby
Otherwise without a decent 10 you are average and we have no good ones atm

Is the challenge we didn’t ID Mack Hansen or more so we could not develop him like the Irish system has? He was nothing special at brumbies
Yes our ID is off and we miss a lot to overseas or mainly NRL but development is questionable too

We have a coaching crisis. We have the players, but the coaches don’t know how to get the best out of players consistently. A good coach doesn’t have roller coaster performance. The players are being pushed and pulled without the players knowing who they are playing beside each week. Injuries, will play a part but this rotational BS is not progressing the performances.
If you want to be professional sportsman, there are sacrifices and you put your country first. Hearing players are off became their wife is due to have a baby or that JOC (James O'Connor) was on a holiday did make me think about player’s commitment.
The best players are on the field week after week and get to keep their jersey if they perform. What has happened to the grit and grunt of our players? It’s like they need to be babysat and can’t go out on the field and play an enterprising style of rugby without the coaches validation. We are playing like robots. Where are the players with natural flair and individual brilliance. Our players need to take a leaf out of Henry Pollock’s book.

The issue is the PIGS. If they dont go forward even the best 10 is going to struggle. We had times today when we did go forward and that gave a little bit of space. I want pigs that work hard and have interplay. I want backs that will stay on their feet and not get stripped in the tackle. Every time we went wide, we lost it, including JAS.

The players are not as good is you think. They are average at the end of a long season and are playing like they want to go home, In my view. Fact is When was our last entry into a super rugby grand final. When was the last we won. We won the comp in 2011, reds and 2014 Tahs, Brums were in semis that year as well. Then add Gitteau because we had no 12 and no real kicker in general play and World Cup Final.

There have been some wild takes on this forum before but this is close to taking the cake.
Questioning a blokes desire and commitment because he wants to be part of his child coming into this world and supporting his wife who undoubtedly bends over backwards to help Len be the player is he is bloody poor.

This type of crap is such loser talk, be better.

Bollocks. If we can beat the Springboks at home, we can beat every international team. The head coach needs to pick the best support coaches, select the best players , develop the best game plans /plays, and pick the best leaders. Schmidt has dropped the ball. Parling and Cron leave and the set piece crumbles. Wilson is not the team’s leader. The players have each shown their capabilities.

The Australian way I’m guessing.

Thats the nature of the top 10. Every dog has its day. But we did not do it twice did we.

No big bulls.

Len himself said he wasn’t picked vs Italy and was disappointed that he want. He was in camp all week, where has this story come from?
