Queensland Reds 2026

He played and was probably touch and go to play on the weekend. Exposing him to Wallaby camp was the right decision.
Well... Schmidt took a novice in Edmed and a guy who hadn't played rugby in a long while ... and was injured.... didn't kick in the game he did play... not sure if I'd call that the right decision. Touch and go? Let's JOC (James O'Connor) go. Then a guy on the bench in Stewart who hasn't played 10 for ages? A shambles. Edmed could have gone down in the first few minutes. Still don't know who our best 10 is. Joe has definitely been good for the Wallabies but his selection around 10 was 'all over the shop'!

To be fair, from what Edmed showed this tour even if he did go down, I don't think we would have lost anything with Stewart coming on apart from maybe goal kicking. I liked Edmed from what I saw in the NPC, not sure what's happened to him.

He's playing against players who are on average 2-3 levels better than he was in the NPC. It massively reduces the time he has to make decisions and he ends up making the wrong ones more often, or even worse, getting caught before he's made them. Even when he does make decent choices the pressure on his execution is ramped up.

That's the big difference between Tane and the other candidates, he takes that much longer to make decisions right now and he gets burnt because of it.

Tane is a solid Super player .. nothing flash. His decision to kick the ball out on the weekend on half time with the French down a man? Showed no thought to take advantage and try and score. A good 10 with rugby iq is looking to capitalise in that situation. Not much made of it but to me showed why he is not our Test 10 going forward.

Come on Big Les... step up son... you can do the Reds and Wallabies... Cheika did it... Joe needs to finish up and we can then evolve into a new team. Fraser to captain and we need to use more width in our game and get rid of Joe ball and box kick central. Decide on your two best 10's, and stick with them bar injury all the way through to the Cup. Play our best 23 every Test. So easy on the sidelines!

It's McDermott's jersey when he's fit no question
I think Thomas is pretty equal with McDermott skill wise and I think he is maturing and making better on the run decisions. I think he will be better than McDermott eventually, he is not there yet but I think he has more potential.

I wonder if we will see McDermott and Lynagh work as a pair, and then Thomas and Gordon as a pair where they either start together or come off the bench together to build more familiarity?

And the wallabies 10 chat enters the Reds thread, by the same old protagonists. This places goose is cooked!

Can we fuck off the non Reds discussion? Have your fun elsewhere. Leave the Reds thread for the Reds.
I think the unfortunate thing is this coaching "transition" is most certainly going to lead to a merging of Reds and Wallabies discussions as Les Kiss is the Wallabies coach in waiting. For Red's fans sake I hope I'm wrong, but this is something that could really de-stabilize the 2026 Reds

No. No. No. Try the WBs thread. Leave some minimal room for sanity for Reds fans on this thread.
