Wallabies 2026

Sua'ali'i played a lot of fullback as a schoolboy. Kiss might choose to play him there. He could be dynamite (although I hope Wright will make it back).
He has zero place kicking ability and his defensive skills are not up to speed to cover such a wide area as of yet. He has all the potential, but that coming together aligns more with RWC31 than it does RWC 27. I would love to see Maddocks get a place, he is ripping it up at Pau.

Pretty sure I saw him kick for the Roosters.

Carter Gordon is the obvious playmaking mindset. Physically and skill. Needs to work on kicking accuracy but has the biggest boot. Back up would be Lynagh if he can overcome aspects of his size deficiencies at a test level.
"Back up would be Lynagh if he can overcome aspects of his size deficiencies at a test level.".... big if. If he gets another head knock he'd have to seriously look at giving the game away. He's had quite a few. Plus his dodgy hammies at a young age. I'm interested to see where Kiss plays Carter at the Reds. He's better than Tom. Surely he gets the 10 jersey to start. Then at the Brums you have Declan Meredith, who I think is a better footballer than Edmed. Donaldson also has Burey to contend with.

Spot on Yoda about the 10s. There could be some rearranging of the 10s market in SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) next year if Lynagh loses his spot to Gordon and Meredith and Burey emerge as serious contenders at the Brumbies and the Force. Would only be good for Aussie rugby to have more options.

Realistically though BR, Lolesio, Donaldson, Gordon, Lynagh an Edmed have been backed and been given valuable Test experience. Form next year between those players will dictate who are the best 3 to be used in a Test squad. RA have bought out Gordon's NRL contract and thrown him on a Wallaby tour. He'll get a rails run. Lynagh, why I don't know, is still backed. Donaldson still hasn't been given enough starting gigs to make a decision whether he's our 10. Edmed is not a Test player after watching the recent Tests. The backs were starved of ball with him directing. Meredith was selected for Aus A in Japan game but not able to play unfortunately for him. So I guess they are looking at him. Where he starts at Brumbies will be interesting. I'm guessing at 15 to allow Edmed at 10 to begin season? He is incumbent Test 10 whether he deserves to be or not. Burey showed some good form in Super Rugby Au this year but his kicking game is erratic. Great player in squad though. Not sure he'll nudge out Donaldson, who has been backed by RA and 3 Wallaby coaches. Going into a RWC, Test experience is obviously valuable. JOC (James O'Connor) is a stop gap if his form continues OS based on his Test experience. Suggestions of Debreczini to get a Test gig seem far fetched. Has never had a sniff and he's 32. Meredith is the only outsider I'd consider and that's if he can get the Brumbies 10 jersey and kill it.
