I joined a number of Shore boys on their bye weekend with the intention of having a close look at Kings and Joeys in full flight following both sides giving us a touch up back in May.

we walked out with our homework complete and a valuable lesson in the virtues of self belief.

Well, you Shorely did do your homework & scored A+, can you enlighten us on what your game plan was, i.e. attack the left hand side?

Shore 2nds and 3rd 2010 had a good mix of year 11 real talent. They will experience their best season since James Packer locked for the 4th XV if the rowing boys are allowed to spread their talents and Merro will captain at 9.

Kings are on the usual spending spree with Country & NSW 15's number 9 Rory Davis being helicoptered in with a 75% scholarship, I pitty the Kings year 9/10 and 11 halves as Steven James will need a return on his investment and young Rory to go straight to 1sts after 2 trials.

Joeys year 12 2011 are a soft crew and hence the catholics will be in a building phase but with some real talent in 16's and 15's to impress.

Newington to press again but they will miss Apo.

Fair Point. My mischievous comment is one that is well held outside the New community, and I would challenge the New associates to "name and shame" their past ex-1st XV successes to put this misconception to rest. I am sure that there will be many once we start counting.

Scott Bowen was in the firsts at New, a while back I know, but another example of boys/men who continued to do good things in rugby after the GPS comp .

Hmmm, Still in shock it was too easy, did the catholics get onto a Nothern Territory bookmaker and clean up with a sting to all those present. Seriously though the Joeys boys against Kings were very scary but this time just appeared disinterested and I almost fell asleep looking into the sun. We knew that last time around in the trial that they win through Tegart, Bond, Dicembre and the move in putting Hulme back to fullback and the big red nut in the centres worked until half time. Best for them was Rocy Dicembre and for us our gutsy pigs.

I agree. Players backing up next year are both props, one lock, both flankers, fly half, outside centre and both wingers. The under 16's include 5 NSW reps including both props. Young Vlahos is my tip to move from wing to inside centre - he's built like the Hulk and would play a similar style to Apo. Then there is talent like Pennington, Ratcliff and Mone who will step up. And then you've got the undefeated 15A team - one or two of them should step up. Winning the comp is never easy but New have the cattle to have a good shot at it.

Didn't James Packer go to Cranbrook?

Do you know who will be back from the 1st & 2nds?

Scots definitely have Barakat at prop (NSW 2s),7 his name escapes me, (good player - played for CS at Aus Champs), Miller the #8, Stewart at 13 (injured for much of this season but will be playing NSW 16s). Not sure who else is back but thats not a bad start. They also have a good 10 in U16s - Horowitz?

Kings 1st XV was nearly all, or possibly all Yr 12 boys so might be a bit of a rebuilding year for them. Can anyone confirm if they have any players returning in 1s?

Hmm, My apologies to all my fellow Shore old boys I was referring to (Sir) Frank Packer the wiry number 5 in the 1921 4th XV who finished 3 way joint premiers with Joeys and St Patricks of Goulburn. His arm reach was amazing! On a more serious note Shore will be the surprise packet of 2011 if we can have equal access to our 1st and 2nd VIII crews.

Flanker: Baldwin, Prior-Lees
No. 8: ????

How many are back next year for 2011 1st XV?

For Joeys in 2011, fullback Gus Le Livre (yr11), halfback Gerard McTaggart (yr11) and lock Michael Kovacic (yr11) from the 1sts, and prop Nick Hall (yr11), fullback Josh Kay (yr10), wing Sam Barclay (yr 10) and flanker James Goldie (yr10). Although Doug Kim is in yr11, he is over aged, making him in-eligible to play rugby for Joeys next year. The current yr10 form at Joeys is very strong as well, runners-up to Newington in the 16 A's. The 15's are also a strong form with the 15 A's being premiers.

Enough is enough. Right or wrong or in between you are getting boring. As one who has bored more forum readers than most I know.

Any more posts that hint of this kind of thing on this thread will be nuked - and don't sneak the stuff in other threads either - except the scholarships thread.

Feel free to take it to another forum.

It's a pity because you have some good info, which I steal from time to time.
