That you once again for your contribution troll.
Yes it was necessary otherwise I wouldn't have posted it. Getting away with the win doesn't negate the stupidity of Sanzars decision to appoint him or his own poor performance.

Now you can continue your spiteful little comments but I've said what needed to be on the matter and now I'm going to watch the replay. Again :D :D :D

REDS PREMIERS 2011!!!!! Not gonna get sick of saying that any time soon ;)

Now you're acting childish...

The only spiteful comments came from you in regards to Lawrence...

It's already been discussed ad nauseum that the refereeing appointments were agreed upon before the finals by the teams involved...

The notion that Australian teams are the victims of one eyed bias from referees is an unsubstantiated joke...

My view on Bryce is that he was utterly incompetent as usual. He lost control of the breakdown in about the 3rd minute and never got it back. Call me a troll if you like, but some of Richie's atrocities were beyoind belief.

The funny thing is that Bryce's uselessness materially contributed to the Reds' win. Because it made the game a free-for-all. If he had blown an extra 8 penalties per side, the Crusaders would have won the game throiugh set pieces and goal kicking.

The decision to appoint him, however, remains mysterious.

While it's fair to criticise the overall form of Lawrence, it's just preposterous to claim that he was biased towards any team...

McCaw always gets away with atrocities under a number of refs because he's a master in the dark arts...

Can anyone tell me with a straight face that any of the Fainga'a brothers know how to enter a ruck from the correct side?

The refereeing decisions (or actually non decisions) happened to favour the crusaders in the first half with many missed knockons and no attempt to make players stay on their feet at the ruck. Then the reds got a few back in the second including a rough penalty against the saders at the scrum.

I don't think him letting the rucks turn into a free for all helped the reds at all. If he had cracked down on the diving over and sealing off and not rolling away stuff it would have sped the ruck ball up and played into the reds up tempo game plan, whereas the crusaders were always going to play a conservative style and often kicked the ball away from good attacking positions (eg scrum on halfway).

Faster play would definitely have helped the reds not hindered them.

So it is ok for him to troll in every reds thread but not ok to call him out? Please explain why?

Because he had said nothing inflammatory tonight, had been gracious in congratulating the Reds, and many of us (but apparently not you) cannot see the need for stirring up the same old shit-fight that most of us have had enough of, over past weeks. In what way do you think it helps? Please explain that, Scotty.

I agree with all of that. Saia in particular does some ridiculous things on the wrong side of the ruck.

Well done the Reds. Was very nervous watching it and had to pause my recording a few times to settle the nerves. Switched to a recorded movie back and forth; it had a few restful murders in it.

Some stray thoughts.

• Both teams started nervously and some of the execution was poor. And how seldom have the Saders blown chances as they did in this match: Guilford dropping that ball and Thorn not passing near the line – plus generally taking the wrong option?

• The Saders bullied the Reds at the ruck. When it mattered they got there too early with too many and even when things were matched up at the ruck they were too strong. Then they got a bit weary in the last quarter and the Reds had their turn.

• But well done to the Reds for their defence, especially in the 1st half with all the ball and real estate owned by the Kiwis.

• Some of the Saders had inferior games: Guilford was poor and showed he is little more than a top ball runner, Freuen looked below par, and the dodgy lineout throwing of Flynn was game changing. McCaw was a shadow of himself and Carter, apart from a moment of wizardry, was ordinary and didn't provide much direction. On the other hand Read was exceptional.

• It was a poor effort to stop Genia's try. Fotuali'i attempted an ankle tap instead of leaving his feet and trying to tackle him and Maitland could have tried a more robust tackle to knock the ball out.

• Genia was mediocre at the beginning even when he wasn't being bothered by the Kiwis, but the Reds season has been defined by intermittent occurrences of inspiration and his try was one of those. An earlier brilliancy: Ioane's step at pace to score, so hard to do, switched the momentum of the game.

• Tapuai has stepped up from a rookie to a class 12 in a short time and he and A. Finger constrained their vaunted opponents nicely.

• The refereeing of the ruck was bad and Rafferty's Rules seemed to apply. Others would have talked about the infractions of the Crusaders but the Reds were no angels. S.Finger came in at the side a couple of times in emergencies without being pinged and the Reds forwards around the ruck were advancing from in front of last feet on several occasions without being noticed.

• The Reds scrum was bullied. It's an 8 man effort but you could see that Crockett, the form LHP of the tournament, was smashing Holmes. But some of their wheeling looked dodgy as you don't spin a scrum that quickly without the LHP moving his feet out and walking around and/or the THP pulling back. Holmes didn't do his chances of making an Oz comeback any favours,

• Had the Crusader's lineout been as good as it's scrums it would have been game over but poor throwing, and interceptions by Samo and Simmons countered their scrum advantage.

• Well done Reds. At the end of the day you were too bloody good.

I actually enjoyed the fact that Lawrence just pretty much let things go. Maybe my opinion would be different if we had lost (but I'd like to think not). There was plenty of offside from the Reds as well, but both sides had to go hammer and tongs at the breakdown because they knew that Lawrence was unlikely to stop any pilferring. When we play don't we all tell our forwards to sort out the opposition ourselves and not expect the ref to do it? Winning the breakdown contest will be huge at the world cup as well - I doubt Pocock will have many complaints if the ref stands back and lets side sort it out themselves.

All the comments have been made. Wasn't the best match I've seen this year but by far and away (from my perspective at least) it was the best result!

Reds, 2011 Super 15 champions...Wow, unbelievable!

No doubt fatigue affected the Crusaders late in the game. I thought Brad Thorn's post-match interview was very good, unlike the ungracious McCaw. McCaw is past his best.

Just seemed to react as though the Crusaders somehow had the right to win just because they are the Crusaders. As if the result was somehow unjust.

4. Simmons
5. Horwill
6. Higginbotham

Damn but you have got to feel for Tapuai at 12. Who had some great runs last night.

I'm still beaming about the result and my throat is still raw. Damn but it was a good night

McCaw could have been a bit more generous towards his opponents.

Ritchie was far from ungracious. Thorne's past affiliations with QLD is what shined in his interview.

McCaw is a class act.

He lost me when he said that the Reds "probably deserved to win" (or something along those lines). The Reds won, they deserved to win (albeit the Crusaders were horribly handicapped by having to travel to and from the Republic - but that is what the draw required them to do) and he really should have said that.
