Saw a few posts in the 2011 thread relating to next season so I thought I'd start this.

Not sure how to transfer the relevant posts from the old thread though? IT retard here so maybe one of the mods can assist?

If the rumours are to be believed about Nowlands and Pini then who is going to be coaching at Sunnybank and GPS next year? I heard that there is a new coach at Brothers as well but don't know his name. . With Mooney new at Wests in 2012 there's certainly appears to have been a coaching cleanout. All I know of the incumbents is that Pat Richards is staying at Easts which is very good for the Tigers. Any other club coach updates?

With Butler, Enever and Kimmince arriving at Easts in 2012, the forward pack is going to be well bolstered, although Murphy will be lost to the Rebels won't he?

It is a sad pity though that the two Coasts are losing these very promising young players.

So I'm guessing that Kimmince, Butler and Enever join Birmingham and Faulkner as Easts members of the Academy. Not sure if they are in but others worth a look are Tupou, White and Stolberg.

Stolberg might be as he was in the Refs academy last year. I'll try and find out if he is.

Some good talent now for Easts as it now looks like players such as Tupou will come off he bench if everyones available.

Sunnybank - ??
Brothers - Matt Kaye (from ACT)
University - Mick Heenan (staying)
GPS - Shane Arnold (2011 GPS Premier Colts coach)
Easts - Pat Richards (staying)
Norths - Lew Price?? (staying)
Sunshine Coast - heard a new coach has been appointed but don't know his name
Gold Coast - rumour is Tiny Nowland
Wests - Phil Mooney
Souths - Ken Wills

Only 2 or 3 coaches retaining positions from 2011 is the least for a while.

Think tupou might be with the 7's.

East looking like early favourites for next year. Bit of talent in the colts team as well.

The injuries this year has definatly brought through some depth from players that probably wouldn't have played at all this year. So that is definatly a positive for the Tigers.

But same as every year you'd expect Uni and Sunnybank to be the front runners with Brothers, Easts and GPS up there aswell.

Was told on Monday that Tiny was going down the coast. Will be a very different environment for him down there and not helped by the fact all of the talent from the GC seems to be heading up the M1. Also the fact that they no longer have reserve grade teams and have to pull players from different clubs can make things very tricky.

How does it work with the coast teams?

Do they pick a 30 man squad and then just call guys up when there are injuries.

Not sure that could be the case Bowside. Sunnybank and Uni, as T12 has alluded to, have far stronger sides on paper. Having said that, I'm excited at the depth the (supposedly) new recruits will add to Easts. If we assume that Sincock and Murphy are gone in 2012, a full strength Tigers side ( not taking into account S15 commitments), might resemble the following:

1. McBride 2. Fells 3. Birmingham 4. Stolberg 5. Enever 6. Bertini 7. Quirk 8. Butler 9. Fuller 10. Brandon. 11. Faulkner 12 Shelton 13. White 14. Wilder 15. Toua.

A number of those players won't be known to many outside Brisbane, but that is a pretty strong side. With guys of the quality of Kimmince, Riley and Tupou around, and not knowing where guys like Brabham and Ritchie are, I do fancy Easts as a Top 4, but favourites is a stretch.

I'm sure T12 and Light will remind me of a few names I've left out.

Can confirm Tiny is at Gold Coast. I think he has a bloke from Junior rugby helping him who hasn't even cut his teeth in senior rugby. Not sure how that will work out but am sure the big fella knows what he's doing. Understand as well that UJ Setini and Cox boys with a number of other colts heading up the M1 to Brissy clubs. Real shame but the governing body has alot to answer to with the mass exodus of talent.

Pretty sure that a squad picked each week including benchies (22). Those that aren't selected are expected to return to their club sides (like Bond Surfers, olleges etc) and play there. Unfortunately a lot of boys feel a bit slighted when they have to drop a level and it makes it difficult to be recalled. Suppose coaches of the local sides don't really want to promote their better players for the Breakers as it dilutes their local teams' playing talent. Seems untenable that both Coasts don't have a second grade from which to draw upon.

Draw for 2012 will be made public on 1 December. Seems the QRU are still keen on playing club games on Sunday after Reds games on the Saturday. I understand it from the Reds point of view but I know when I played Sunday's were a pain in the ass.

Pat Richards is assistant coach at the Academy too?

If what people are insinuating is true that Pat is luring players in the academy to Easts I will be pretty pissed. We have enough troubles down here at the Breakers without losing some of the names we do have. I would assume the Stingers would think the same way. I would not think that luring players is the right thing to do!!!!
