I think those boys from Sunny Coast that went to UQ have all gone there to be apart of their academy program. Also from what I've heard Rod Seib is the new premier grade coach of Sunnybank, internal promotion as leakytap suggested.

Yes Rod Seib is Sunnybank Premier coach for the 2012. A great reward for the work he did in 2011.

A question for followers of Uni - How many of the 2011 squad have moved on? I can think of Prior, Cox and Kuridrani...anyone else?

Also - what has happened to David Byrnes? Very good winger a couple of seasons ago but seems to have faded from the scene.

David Burns had a shoulder op which kept him out of the 2011 season. Will be back again in 2012. Should be a big year for him. Has a great ability to get the ball over the try line.
Prior, Cox, Kuridrani all off to the brums but atleast 2 of the 3 are very keen to come back and play when the s15 is over. Not sure what the brums policy is though.
Tim Aistrope has retired. Perhaps not the most well know member of the team to other clubs, stope has been one of the most important figures over the last 3 years with his ability to help guide the younger members when the going got tough.
Otherwise it looks like most of the 2011 team will return plus a few extras in key positions.

Someone told me James Ambrosini, former Aust schoolboys 10, will be playing for Uni next year.

Uni may well deserve to start 2012 as favourites then.

I'll have a go at a possible strongest lineup: 1. Davis 2. Hansen 3. Sheperdson 4. Buchanan 5. Preocanin 6. McDuling 7. Wade 8. Favier 9. Thompson 10. Harris 11. Burns 12. Lance.
13. Foley 14.Mcqueen 15. Morahan.

Pretty strong line-up, particularly the forwards.

I thought Wade was now a hooker? I doubt Harris, Lance and Morahan will play much for them in 2012. Junior Rasolea would be my pick at 12 and Simon Morahan would be close to getting a run. Gee they do have a good group of players there.

I've seen mention of a few good Coast lads heading to GPS in 2012. They were a young side this year and look to have the makings of a very good side going forward. Anyone care to name a 'best' 15?

I'm not completely in the know but I'll have a go -

1 .R. Smith
2. ?????? / Ferguson
3. J.P Smith
4. D. Gorman
5. M. Carpenter
6. J. Ellis
7. M. Blain
8. . Halevu / Donaldson
9. N. Frisby
10. P.Smith
11. M. Garland / Winks
12.
13. J. Herbert
14. C. Kuridrani
15. J. Logan

I stress I'm not really in the know but above is a guide. I think GPS may have picked up an experienced hooker currently playing/played in France and a young number 12 who maybe (not sure) a part of the current Australian 7's squad. I still think they need a big tough experienced 2nd rower. Matt Garland is back from his foray into League with the Titans I believe. The back line is still very young but looks to have plenty of pace. If Frisby is picked in the Reds for some experience then the No.9 position might be a bit light on although Franks finished last year really well.

Is Sam Satui still at GPS? He goes very well at club from what I've seen, as does Donovan Slade. Couple of older heads to guide some of that young talent around.

The forwards look strong, particularly with the Smith props and that backrow including Blain.

If Ian Prior returns after the Brumbies season the backs could look like:
9- Prior
10- Harris
11- Morahan
12- Rasolea (the bloke who tore up the GC sevens)
13- Foley
14- Davies
15- Lance

Of course seeing that line-up is highly unlikely, but still that's easily the best backline in the comp.

I don't know. I think this one is pretty good
9. M. Lucas
10. B. Lucas
11. Ioane
12. B. Tapuai
13. R. Tapuai
14. Setu
15. Kingi

Wont ever happen but possibly could

Yes Sam is still at GPS. Won the premiership in Reggies this year and seems very content there. I don't think he really has the time (nor the inclination) to press for Prem because of family commitments etc.
I'm probably getting ahead of myself (and biased of course) but I think GPS might make some big strides in 2012 and surprise quite a few. They've picked up some good cattle who, injuries permitting, will be available all season.

They finished 4th in 2011 and have added to the squad. I have no doubt that they will push further in 2012. The change is coaching structure will have some say in this but most clubs are in this situation.

They were top four this year with a very young side, and next year's roster looks stronger, so I don't think too many will be surprised Triplet. If some of the young blokes at the Reds step up you may even see Samo getting a rest from a game or two in the S15 and make a couple of cameos like he did this year.

When does the season start? I can only presume Quade will make his comeback via Souths which will be a good bosst for Brisnae Premiere Rugby and Souths who I understand are a struggling club. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Season Starts 28 April. It will be interesting to see how Quade is bought back. Might get some game time for the Magpies but could be just used off the bench for the Reds.

When is Cooper actually due back? I thought full knee recon's take about nine months, which would make it June or July, the back end of the season. If the Reds are travelling well, bringing him back early could be a major gamble, not only for the team but him personally. Look at what happened with a few of the underdone Wallabies taken to NZ.

Jets - is 28th April start of the season proper or does that account for pre-season as well? Hopefully not and we are watching club rugby in March.
