The jig is up, Richard D. Even Dumbledore dropped him from 12...

JOC (James O'Connor) too small for 12....

He was big enough when he was 17 and getting smashed by Nonu, he's big enough now. :)

Just jokes, guys. JOC (James O'Connor) is not a complete 12 or 10 at the moment, but I think he should be developed as a 10.

Shifting him to accomodate a lesser player, kiap, he still has to be there for the Wallabies ;) Bang him out on the wing for the Rebels and give him a roving commission like Digby at the Reds.

What I do like about the Rebels is that they're recruiting young players. PAE, Pyle, Neville, Jones, Beale, Taps, JOC (James O'Connor), Kingi, Phipps, Inman and Stirzaker are all under 25. Most of them are under 23. A good young hooker and openside are needed pretty badly, but the nucleus of an excellent young side is starting to be pulled together.

He's a really, really average 10 at the moment. His running game is absolutely elite, but he just doesn't set up the guys around him. When we've got Beale and Cooper running around, trying to wedge JOC (James O'Connor) in there doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Good recruitment from the rebels.
If hey keep this up they won't be able to claim underdog status for very long.

For mine, Taps is a better 12 option than JOC (James O'Connor). I actually think Melbourne will be a weaker team fir playing JOC (James O'Connor) next to Kurt's, there both creative guys and playing them next to each other will only limit there total ability. One has to be at fullback if the other is in the 10.

JOC (James O'Connor) should have stayed at the Force... But it is true he hasn't been consistently good at 10 yet because he overplays his own hand.

We are starting to see Beale get that quality distribution happening now at 10 this year (in his few games there, wrist injury aside).

I rate Taps better than JOC (James O'Connor) at 12, though. No question.

Not sure how having a creative combo at 10 and 12 will limit anything. The second-five style 12 has been used many times with success.

He would be a great signing for the Reb's, and an enormous loss for the Red's... Very impressed with the Rebels mangement and coaching team, they seem to be recruiting really well for next year.

The Force on the other hand, what the hell are they doing!? How will they ever improve if they keep dragging their feet. Haven't heard of a single signing yet...
Subsitute the word 'poaching' for 'recruiting'.
The Queensland Reds should be substituted for all the training/fitness/knowledge these players have freely obtained, from the Reds support team.

This is all still just a rumour right? Nothing official has been announced... so therefore can we please stop short of thinking/stating it's a foregone conclusion.
Link can be very persuasive when he wants to be & I get the feeling that Taps is very much wanted in the Reds set up.

creative 10/12 only work when those players offer a different skill set for mine. Both JOC (James O'Connor) & Kurts are creative players who try things, i don't actually believe JOC (James O'Connor) has the natural game to just back up and i think thats what Kurtley or JOC (James O'Connor) individually need around them. its not a knock on either player, i just believe there both alpha players and having them next to one another will result in them ending up hindering each others progress. I also feel Kurtley has shown great leadership in his time alone at 10 without JOC (James O'Connor) and that needs to be encouraged.

i also think that both players have less than great defence and if there together the channel will fast become a problem.

ad Quade to the mix at international level and i actually believe they hamper each others natural games.

The Rebels need to stop recruiting backs and start recruiting front rowers.

There's a small pool of quality Oz props and things are going to get worse when they bring in the 23rd player trial. I don't rate Owens. I'm not quite sure why PAE hasn't had a game yet though he is very young for a THP. Maybe he is injured but if there is anybody "in the know" at the Rebels, please advise.

Penguin, you must have been a front row prop.....such wisdom from the dark zone.

I think that JOC (James O'Connor) is a fantastic winger and should remain there as it is becoming a more important position given the plague of tactical kicking.

If he must be moved, I think he would be good at fullback also. What I can't understand though, is why no one has ever used him at outside centre. Watching him play at inside centre, he makes many of his line breaks standing very wide of the traditional 12 running lines. I like the idea of him getting wide cut out balls from cooper with Beale, Ioane and Mitchell on his shoulder. Yet I never hear of him playing at 13.

I believe he had a season ending injury from the start of the season Lee, a very big shame that.

That would make two Victorians in the Rebels outfit.

Get hold of Allan F. from Dandenong also. Played 13 for Oz Schools last year and is playing for Oz Sevens currently (got the call up when he was working for a Dandenong butcher.)

As for Tapuai: it's a bit of a surprise but you always knew that the Reds would have to shed some of their backs. Since he left school more young backs have emerged at the Reds. They are not so pricey and Ben is getting to an age where he should be on a decent earn.

He may have wanted to come to the Rebels anyway, but if Higginbotham became marginalised because of the salary cap then you could see Tapuai in the same situation.
