Riverview are already reaching very impressive heights escpecially on the ergs:best being 6:15 and worst being 6:40 and no rower above 90 kg. expecting big things from the view boys this year

I know it was the first race of the season but Riverview will need to improve on a 6.13 if they want to be competitive. Particularly if they have been training in the off season.

Shore has a great chance with wins in 1st, 2nd and 1st J VIII's last year, while Scots may fall off the rail with their entire 1st VIII crew leaving. Newington may have some potential comin second in 1jVII's for the last two years. Kings seem to drop off in the senior years while grammar have had a surge, not sure if they can keep it coming. Riverview dont seem too strong, their crew seems a bit small. St Joesephs could be a powerhouse but that depends on coaching. Theyve lost their head coach in Brian Richardson to Newington, who will have more freedom to work his magic. Newington and Shore seem to be the two to watch. Keep an eye out for the dark horses High as well, they seem to be improving rapidly under coach Michael Morgan, and have been spotted numerous times in winter sculling sessions.

Not entirely true on the Scots front - 2 returning in Stroke (Boustred) & 7 (Urquhart).

great to see the Iron Cove waters be even more washy and devastating to the schoolboy boats as this regatta showed in all crews how close this years GPS competition for rowing will be.

With Shore, kings, Newington sharing most of the top 3 positions in every schoolboy senior event. It will be interesting if Newington can keep its form and hold till the HOTR unlike last year, when they burnt out in late jan/early feb. Also for the 4's dominators (kings) if they can repeat last years performance and remain successful over all the 4's. Unfortunately, their 8's are still in a limbo, same with Newington and Scots.

Shore look the favourites to win HOTR 1st 8, they were glimmering across the cove, looking like there was perfect conditions where no ferry wash could've taken there harmonous strokes away from them.

Joeys won 1st IV and 3rd IV and came 3rd in 2nd IV yesterday so not sure Kings is dominating at this stage.

New 2nd 8 looking good. same with both shore crews. the new first 8 has some picking up to do but with some injured fellas coming back they may come good.

Wolf Out.

Any thoughts for the racing this Saturday? Shore and Newington looking to be early favorites. I expect to see them battling it out all season

Results from last Saturday - Sydney Grammar Regatta Iron Cove

SB1 8+ Final:
1st. Shore
2nd. Scots
3rd. Riverview
4th. Newington
5th. Grammar

Results show shore dominant early in the season with riverview and scots close behind. I agree with GPS observer that shore eights look good and strong through the middle thousand, crews will need to push early and hold them off through this time if they want to knock shore off.

Newington was in the exact same position last year, and they came 3rd in the HOTR.

i've heard reports for unknown sources that some shore boys in the 1st 8 are getting overworked and overtrained and finding the coach too much?

I expect to see Newington up in the mix with a podium finish tomorrow. I think they just had a bad race and came unstuck in the last 500.

Not quite the result you predicted. New way down the list. Shore looking really strong today. Another honest effort from the Catholics!!

I hope to see a little more competition in the future rather than just shore dominating as it seems to be shaping up to be.
