Fair enough gibb hasn't paid attention to names in the past just Horan is a fairly hard one to miss esscipally with his dad being the driving force behind terraces rugby scholarships. I would love to give you my thoughts on the 'national squad'/ARU and wallabies sons squad but this is not the right thread to do so on
Not sure about outside GT but inside you might find the name Lucas has more pull. Have a look at what club most of the new players have come from.

I havent heard much of these new GT imports Nikau and Isaiah. Does anyone think they will have much impact on the team this year? or does anyone know what there gameplay is like?

Insiders from the Viking camp are saying that their 1st XV squad are training for all but two weeks of the academic year- with an estimated 60-70 training sessions before Round 1 against Brisbane State High School. It is understood that the mistakes of the failed Centenary Premiership campaign are trying desperately to be avoided by new head coach Jason Gilmour in 2013. The risk of burnout appears to have been overlooked by 'the powers that be', compromising the academic prospects of a school noted for its consistent academic excellence.

lets stop talking about terrace. Someone give us something on churchie bbc nudgee and toooomba
My BBC sources say that loss of Jnr has been taken philosophicaly by the boys from Toowong, especially given that they played most of the 2012 season without him. There has, however, been reported sightings of a good number of new boarders donning the green and black at early pre-season training... We await the unveiling!

BSH did have a strong 16A side last year and a few of them managed some game time in the first last season. The BSH forwards will be much more impressive than last year. Props, Mclean, who played 4 games in first but missed most of the season through injury, Enoka kalupu (who I heard IGS were chasing) coming into the front row this year at 130 KGs, Alistair Berking, came into first last year from an injury, Ben Petaia, played all games in the first, Callum enoch-Barlow, Josh Wood coming up from 16A, others there are Matt Sautia (Chris brother) and a few others also pushing to get into the side. In the backs Antoine Isoefo has matured and set to have a big impact. Serge Panochini, Antonio Asiata and Jermaine Carter are all players with first experience and pushing for a spot in the team. All those players are regular selections in representative football and I do not believe you can dismiss them so lightly. I believe BSH will be looking at a top 3 finish this year.
You overlook the coach. Same as last year which was an unmitigated disaster. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Half the team last year were U16 at the expense of grade 12 boys who should have been in the side. No cattle and no coach. Wooden spoon with GT.

It is all too easy to blame the coach when things go wrong. It was the same coaching staff 2011 and the results were better. From what I could see there was a shortage of quality players in year 12 last year. You only had to look at the performance of BSH 2nd xv to realise that. There seemed to be an expectation that if you were in year 12 then you would gain preference over year 11's regardless of ability. This created some discontent in the side last year and fractured the cohesiveness of the team. There have been changes to the coaching staff this year and there is again a mix of year11/12 boys in the squad. However there is much more depth in the squad and I stand by my predictions.

Come on. 2011 had Browning, Sautia and many other talented players. They should have won the comp. However they were completely dysfuntional and finished 5th. BGS won the comp last year because they were the best coached team. On paper they weren't that great. They have had a taste and will win again this year. BSHS have the same head coach as last year. He didn't pick the best team regardless of what year they were in and created a toxic environment (to quote the great Quade). Anyway it is all academic. BSHS have no money to spend on rugby programmes and are stuck with whoever is available on staff. They fluked it with Noon. GPS rugby has gone professional with the other well funded school throwing serious coin at their programmes including coaches. Even GT are importing but it seems not very well. BSHS can no longer attract the likes of Browning, Sautia, Quirk, Toomoua ect. Good players have been poached by other GPS schools. BSHS also struggles to find places for rugby players as according to the papers too many people have moved into the catchment area and there is little or no room for merit entry. For the foreseeable future it will be a yearly derby between BSHS and GT for the wooden spoon. BGS to win in 2013. TSS, NC and Churchie will have their own competition to see how much money they can spend on rugby.

I will agree with you that BSH can not match the other schools when it comes to buying the coaches and players. However BSH is unique insofar that it offers the opportunity to many players to compete in GPS sports who are not in a financial position to enrol in the private schools and therefore would not normally get the chance to compete at this level. I disagree that BSH can no longer attract players such as "Browning, Sautia, etc.." There are talented players in BSH, but because they have not been "bought" they fail to attract attention. I would not be as presumptuous to denigrate BSH 1st XV for 2013 due to a failed campaign in 2012!!

Do you actually know how many players will be in TSS 1sts team this year that weren't at TSS last year ?

New here - but can definately confirm new faces at State High. Director of Rugby, just back from Japan, where he was Eddie Jones' assistant coach for 4 years; another was the premier colts coach at Souths for some time. Will be interesting to see how they go.

Apparently, 17/22 from TSS 1st XV squad last year have been retained.. so if they have picked up a few new players it doesn't leave much room for players from last years strong u16 or 2nds.

Details have emerged that a school close to the border has been seen parading an "import" from a rival GPS school in 2013. Surely this inter-GPS scouting contravenes the guidelines of fair play?
