Hegarty showed plenty of promise tonight. He's a very deceptive ball player and looked at home as starting 5/8. JOC (James O'Connor) would benefit playing outside of him, perhaps in a similar way that Giteau did outside of Larkham (not comparing Hegarty to Bernie, just the extra space).

We must have been watching different games. At the ground Hegarty looked out of his depth with terrible tactical kicking and mostly just shuffle on passes. It was good to get a win but in all reality it was despite of Hegarty and in majority due to the forwards and goal line defense.

Agree about his kicking, that fluff chip on halfway had me spitting! I thought for a young guy playing his 2nd match he looked composed. My expectations weren't set too high and I'd say they were pleasantly exceeded.

Not trying to predict how things will go for Hill, but can you see him working as a understudy to another senior coach? You could free up his time to focus on attack coaching (clearly what's he renowned for) and have a senior coach overseeing all aspects of the game (including attack). Sort of reminds me of the setup they have at some AFL clubs, .i.e Mark Thompson as an assistant out at Essendon.

In terms of Loosy/Tighthead, I can only find this article from 2010, which suggests he's primarily a loosehead, in recent years, but played a lot of tighthead at school level.

i thought he was so ordinary that he mustve been a outside back filling in because of injuries :/ thought his passes were pretty terrible

This would signal the end of Henderson's time at the Rebels. He tries his best but his best isn't quite good enough. I have yet to see him make a metre with ball in hand.

Henderson was always retiring after this season. Think Sexton will be a very good hooker . Just speculating of course , but Bernard Foley might be an interesting 10 at the Rebs.

Well. That is interesting. It raises some implications re: KB (Kurtley Beale). Possibly also JOC (James O'Connor) and perhaps the development kids.

I was just thinking that it would mark a drastically different direction in recruiting, heading away from superstars to a more team driven approach.

I think you are right that if the Tahs keep Folau, then they really only have room for one of KB (Kurtley Beale) and Foley as both command/deserve starting positions. So, it is logical that the Rebels can probably secure the other.

I think your right. Under Sams recruitment management , I think you are seeing a definite change in direction. He has a great eye, think Hegarty, Reid, English,Woodward.All have enormous potential and signed on his say so. He also strongly fought for Higgers, despite opposition from some coaching staff.

Can't say I disagree with the idea. Not entirely sold on Hegarty yet but I agree he has potential.

It certainly is interesting speculation but combined with his ability to somehow uncover Australian born props playing overseas who are willing to come to the Rebels I am very impressed so far.
