Just checked it....
should most likely be playing at 1pm on the Johnson Oval as there is no need for grammar to reserve for yarda yarda, will you stay for the 1s IS?
If I'm there for the 3rds I probably will.
Not so much for seeing New - most of whom I have had a good look at - but to see McGregor and Hutchinson to see if I can feel the man love and also to see my first GPS 1st XV v 1st XV game for the year.

I'm stagged it went unpunished, but I assume it is a King's video so I'm not surprised they left that footage in.

My sons team once erupted in a post game situation ... And I asked him what that was all about ... And he explained one kid was shaking each kids hand, and saying 'gay' .... And then it erupted

Either way no excuse for that behaviour!

Head but by Riverview number 5 after the whistle at 6:20

If the officials (Referee or Assistant Referees) had seen it, action could have been taken.

Because it went unnoticed, I'm not sure that any 'official' action can be taken.

2 things gents.

What ended up happening with A. Kellaway and the suspected leg injury that occurred on the weekend?

Who is still injured in the view 1st XV? Is last years no.8 Ben Hunt back in the 'hunt' for a 1st XV spot after his hand injury?

I couldn't agree more with you main event. I think that for Schoolboy Rugby this is disgraceful, not in the true nature of the game. I will be very disappointed if no action is taken on the View number 5. Did anyone happen to see in the 3rd's game prior the number 14 from View head butt one of the King's blokes, splitting his nose open and sending him to the blood bin? Overall, quite a disgrace in my view.
It's disgusting.. a blatant lack of respect for the opposition and for the officials and in my opinion, Riverview need to take action against him. There is always going to be little fights and niggles on the field, but when it leads to a headbutt as ferocious as this, someone needs to report this to whomever it needs reporting. Disgraceful.

It would/could have been very interesting to see what the rammifications were if No 5 had broken the recipients nose, cheekbone, eyesocket etc.
Given that the game was over it is nothing more than common assault.
Disgraceful behaviour and needs actioning irrespective of whether the officials saw it or not.

As someone who remembers the early 90s and some of the great sydney high players .like adam magro, Chris Whitaker, and Duncan mcrae . It is sad how woeful high are

They should be completely out of gps comp

Google sydney high rugby, and you will see results of the 1sts that are disastrous, and 16s the same

Need to get below 15s for some respectability.

Anyway time to look at how to set up a gps/cas amalgamation with div 1 and 2

Knox v joeys would hold a lot more interest , across the age groups

Sorry I'm a little confused are you saying 'kick' them out before the more successful sub- under 15s age groups get going?
Also are you advocating all GPS sports or just rugby?

Remember Gents (& Rugby Mum if your are reading), that this is a school activity and within the grounds of the school. The respective Headmasters can take the necessary actions and impose any disciplinary sanctions.

I believe it is up to the respective school to take action on the matter. However, considering Kings started the fight at the end of the game, reporting the headbutt could see their own player suspended from the incident minutes earlier, as well as the Riverview player.

Similar case occurred two years ago when Riverview player Mitch Whiteley was reported for biting and was suspended for 2 weeks. The player that was bitten got 3 weeks for an offence that was also viewed by the GPS board.

From what I have heard the number 5 is suspended by the school for this weeks game at least

Sorry I shouldn't pick on High ... I know Tony Hannon is still kicking on there, and I know there are some die hards, and I only just noticed High's 1sts had their first win of the season.

However I was being kind about younger age groups ... the results are pretty bad.

Anyway my real issue, is I am not a fan of this new "home and away" comp ... as far as I am concerned it is like the Super 15, where playing home teams TWICE, reduces the interest.

The weekend was classic case in point, while Joeys and Scots were facing off, and while the hype was there, everyone knows that they can go to the second game.

So really the crowd wasn't as big as it might of been ... yes it probably makes it easier to get a seat ... but trust me if they stick to this new format, we areb't going to see the massive crowds.

So what I keep coming back to is articulated well by this

Expand the GPS winter comp (rugby and soccer) by 6 more schools (with criteria that they must provide a minimum number of teams through the age groups), to include allcomers (promotion and relegation) and introduce semis and finals.
Create a additional divisions for remaining schools with promotion and relegation based on the overall perforamance of the school (i.e like a club championship).
Smaller schools may seek a “merger” to meet the criteria.

if they amalgamated CAS and GPS, and had a Div 1 and 2

you would get a much more interesting season

This year ....some GPS teams will have played one another 3 times, by the end of the year ... pretty sure that Joeys and Kings will have done so.

anyway I blame the "shore" mentality ... although really it is the whole old school tie thing .... I went to a GPS school, so I know it well, however it is so stupid

yes I love the tradition ... you can go to Shore, and the Sergeant Major's office is still there, and the team lists still go up in the same spot, and wow now you have a Farr-Jones on the list

but it is all BS ... yes hang onto some of the traditions, but got to move with the times

the focus of Sydney High is elsewhere, and that is fine ... no doubt they will have the last laugh ... however time for a SHAKE-UP

Different strokes for different folks but I could not disagree more.

I'm loving the home-and-away season.

It's not long ago that High were quite strong and other schools relatively weak. I understand that they are slowly being given more control over enrolments in an effort to return to their former status as being a school for scholars and sportsmen.

Interesting that Knox has been referred to here as I was talking to someone from Knox the other day and there are apparently so many sports offerings at the school that they don't have as many rugby teams as they once did. I'm told that a boy can play club rugby and choose another sport at school.

predictions for the weekend?

Steve - don't know where your previous post went vis-à-vis the head butt incident but I would like to respond ( from what I remember! :) ).

I could not agree more that racial vilification and ethnic/economical profiling has NO PLACE in our game! ( westies, coconuts, leather armpatch brigade and all the others that we hear to my disbelief!!!! ).

That said - there is no place or ANY excuse for a retaliation of this kind. If every time an indigenous or islander boy heard a slur or comment responded this way then we might as well follow MMA! It is a disgrace, but unfortunately until the majority of us drive this sort of behaviour out, of not only rugby, but society in general it will happen. What's the first recourse - to "nut" someone? Once you leave school the repercussions could end a life/career/opportunity!

The correct response would be to bring it to the attention of the referee during the game as it happens, and if not acted on then to follow up through the authorities at the school and let them fight the fight. There are well documented protocols which would be ruthless in punishing the offenders! Or at least I would hope so!

If we all stand for the minorities and those that are different and validate their equality then in the end we will marginalise the haters and abusers!

Probably sounds stupid - but trust in the system and the protocols in place and leave the "nutting" to MMA and the like!

Cheers, Wreckless :)
