Ah you're back. I've been waiting for this! Anything significant to contribute other than the same old trolls Mr Bloom?

I noticed you have been a bit quiet of late mate, haven't got much to say when your team are losing do you? Please do us all a favour and crawl back into the hole you came from. Perhaps while you are there contemplating life you should also remember that a good sport never blames the referee.

Oh C'mon Moreland is just bantering

'Moreland'

Who doesn't love a bit of banter! :D

Moreland and Big game what can my team expect from your mighty 13G's this weekend in Showdown II?

Mate the gt 13gs are very much like the 2012 senior b debating team from terrace. They'll beat you in manner, matter and method and most of all i expect them to ruin your minuscule chance of a premiership

So in other words there will be a GT old boy adjudicator/ref ;)

Really kids - there are some cracking rugby games this weekend that everyone is interested in - can you keep it to topic, otherwise take your slapstick to Facebook or the Dolly Forum

On another note, very happy to see Nudgee going with the indigenous jersey this weekend. Probably could have picked a better round against a less traditional rival but I'm happy to see it nonetheless. It will no doubt lift a few of the lads.

Predictions for this weekend?

G'day Lightbulb. Nah sorry m8 I was a bit consumed late in the last season by exams - gotta get that OP score down. But good chat nonetheless. Nice to see Churchie getting back on their feet after that most fateful 100th year.

Me and spikky hazza are just having some banter - by the way spikhaza your 13E's were quite impressive on the weekend. Tightest the men in red and black have been pushed all season.

Light - play the ball not the man. I'll have you know that I did not crawl out of a hole and I am not a troll - just a good natured chap that enjoys some friendly banter between GPS foes.

I'm taking BBC over BGS, TSS in a snoozer over State High, IGS to squeak past TGS, if they're playing, Downlands to ride the high of their range rivalry win to victory over CEGS, and finally GT to roll over NC.

Best of luck on the weekend lads, except of course to Nudgee

God yes. Its not as though Nudgee sought out this issue, and from the Trials point of view they have always done it then. As a coach I would hate to be the B coach losing 8 players based on the position of the trialing players, and having to get 8 from the C's (etc). Play the game on Tuesday afternoon on the main ovals. Throw in some Ice Cream and make it a positive situation for both teams. Maybe even, new concept, plan for it.
What about the b's player who want to play with their teammates and not a team of ring ins from the team below (repeat for the next 6 teams below). So you can have an effect on the whole age group and piss everyone off or, bite the bullet and cull the a's. maybe the point that everyone seems to be overlooking is that the b and c's at Nudgee are given the same respect as the a's.

I would have thought you play for your school with whoever is selected. They then become your team mates. This is a ridiculous scenario - let's hope some common sense prevails next year but Nudgee should man up not bow out that's poor values and failed leadership for mine. Makes you look back at their 1st XV loss to BGS last year - Nudgee had the manpower and skills a ross the paddock they had the coaches and supporters but the underdogs kept believing and came from behind to record an amazing victory. Man up - win, lose or draw.

The thing I find funniest about this whole 15A debacle is the number of Terrace posters climbing out of the woodwork to attack Nudgee for not playing a B team against them.

I can just imagine the opposite noises being made if the shoe was on the other foot - Terrace parents would be screaming blue murder if their precious B standard children were being put in "physical danger" playing against a full strength Nudgee A team.

Haven't we all heard the classic underage team copout after a loss to Nudgee? "I saw that prop/number 8/outside center driving his wife and kids to the game to watch him play," or "he was shaving as he ran on to the field." There is a stigma attached to Nudgee that intimidates everyone they play, at all levels except maybe opens, when people realize there's no difference between them.

Let's all be brutally honest. If Terrace had the same problem with Rep trials the game would be forfeited anyway, to "maintain the safety" of the kids with no A level experience. Quit whinging that Nudgee is robbing Terrace of an opportunity for a probably undeserved win, because they are doing the exact same thing Terrace would.

The hypocrisy is getting out of hand here guys.

This is the most sense I've seen on this thread to date. I'm a proud terrace old boy but I completely agree with you. I might add I'm still ashamed of that dark day in gps history. Disgraceful.

Very theatrical response but I am not a Terrace old boy - Just an independent observer.

I wonder if Nudgee 15A were playing BBC this week (who also have a lot of kids out) then the same boys that got flogged in the corresponding game last year (and every other year dating back to grade 5 before they got their imports and beat Nudgee this year) would man up once again and happily "not maintain safety" - or have BBC / IGS and ACGS also opted out of playing?

If that were the case, both schools would negotiate to play during the week, like what happened last year.

King - your logic is strong and well communicated, but i offer a couple of contrary points for consideration -
  • There have been a lot of posts suggesting that it would be a hassle having so many new cattle in the various teams, learning new calls, new schedules ( really ?? ), yada yada yada .... From my observations of Nudgee over the years, and certainly Terrace over the last weeks, much of the strength of their Rugby programmes lies in the fact that they coach a brand of rugby across the whole playing group - whilst the scale of the change may be large, change in itself shouldn't be as big an issue that some are making out.
  • I think we are missing the point that these boys are 13 / 14 yrs old - i have no idea about the number of new kids, scholarships etc and dont care, but i havent seen too many 13 year old boys playing Bs rugby who wouldnt give their right one to have a crack and run on for their school in the As.
  • The prize seems to have obscured the game - these are boys, not professional athletes. If they are to be treated as professional athletes, then the decision to forfeit is akin to the Broncos ( apologies ) forfeiting during State of Origin because they have too many rep players out !!
Play the game - either as a makeup on a Friday afternoon, or let the boys in the Bs have a crack at their dream of representing their school in the As.
