JOC (James O'Connor) was impressive again and Fardy had a good debut.
Too many missed tackles and no protection of the pill. This test rugby business is a different beast than Super rugby and the Wallabies en mass have not really stepped up.
The ABs are very good and deserved the win. The Boks will give us a more accurate assessment of where we are.
It would be nice to get TPN and Palu back for the Bok tests. Time for QC (Quade Cooper) to be given a chance to start as well.

The commentators blaming the ref was laughable. Extremely unprofessional too.

If the Wallabies had got up, the Commentators would be praising him.

Fuck me I'm sick of watching those smug bastards beat us. Every time. Who'd watch a tv show where the bad guys always win?? I've had it.

Sorry can't quite see why you label them smug bastards? Comments like that just reek of poor sportsmanship (and yes the booing is poor too, just in case you want to harp on about it).

Winning consistently doesn't make them smug or arrogant, just better than the other team on the day.

I think the ref really was that bad.

If the Wallabies had got up, the Commentators would be praising him.

How do you substantiate a claim like this? Did you think the ref did a good job? I ask because your post infers a belief that supporters don't see refereeing errors if their team wins. Your team won and it appears you don't think the ref was worthy of criticism. If so then I'm afraid I don't see your point.

We would have needed him on our side to be able to win the game - so they probably would have praised him!

I reckon he was worth 6-7 points towards the ABs on balance, so if he instead favoured the wallabies by the same, they might just have won!

Wow, I just saw the penalty that got reversed for Mowen supposedly "holding onto a player".... o_O

Peyper really had a mare in the first half...

That was called by the touchie.

Piper stopped play like it was a big foul play incident that had been referred, but then said something like 'ok it is reversed for holding a player back'.

If it hasn't been it was another kickable penalty to OZ and probably a yellow card warning.

Ah yes, to be fair to Peyper that was a touchie call............. but still a bad one............

<snip> Booing individual players, game after game, is contemptible.

What'll happen eventually is that our bogans will start to respond, until every contest between our teams is played out to a continuous background of catcalls and jeers. Not my cup of tea.

This is what really worries me. We have some of the most mindless bogans going around. If they decide that it's time to retaliate it will be a long time (if ever) we see a game between our two countries that isn't just a big boo fest. That would be a massive shame.

So I wasn't the only one who noticed how slow the Wallaby backs (in particular) and forwards (to a lesser extent) were to align?

Our work off the ball is poor in attack and defence. Again last night we saw a Wallaby player make a long break and no support. Yes the ABs killed the ball at the tackle and prevented the try, but where were the support players??? Miles away. Also, if you get a chance have a look at the tries scored down JOC (James O'Connor)'s wing in both matches. In nearly every case, we've had enough players to defend, but are poorly aligned. Players rush up and tackle no-one, 2 players try to tackle one attacker and leave support players free to catch and pass without pressure.

At test level, this stuff is unforgiveable.

while they were "on" the Wobs were doing a fair bit of holding down and especially ensuring McCaw was on the ground where ever possible, Mowen just took it that few seconds too long when he did the second grab from the ground

Anyone here who thinks the ref cost us the game ignores the fact that the ABs fired about two shots in the whole game because they simply decided to take points rather than step on our throat.

The big question about our team is fitness. This affects everything including support play and realignment and execution. The ABs don't seem to have this problem.

I thought we just couldn't keep up the intensity, for the first 30 minutes we were in this game, but we just started to get tired and then lost our mojo.

Prime example, there was a scrum, Mowen took the ball off and made good ground and there were more AB forwards at the following ruck than wobs.

Despite the ABs having to turn around and work back, both their locks were there, ours were still waddling up the field.

The ref did help their cause, but geez, the ABs absorbed the pressure and were just far too clinical.

Yes, the ABs were infringing in the red zone, but so was Aus, the difference was the ABs were able to score tries from some of those opportunities and we were left just whinging about the infringement.

When you receive a kick, the team needs to work hard to get themselves behind the ball to provide options. There's little effort from the Wallaby players to get back and provide credible options from kick receipts.

Yep, we are lazy off the ball, it was very noticeable in the last Lions game, they were sprinting to reposition, to support, to chase, we jog

Peyper had a massive impact on the game. Very strange as I rate him quite highly as a ref.

It is up to the Australians though to deal with that. Good teams get on with the job when hard done by and our lot just drop their bundle (or at least their heads).

There is only one thing to do: train properly. A lot. Learn to catch, pass and run properly. Not for just one or two weeks, but consistently and continuously.

That is the difference. Our union guys just don't execute the basics at any level of competency so that when the shit hits the fan, they have no fall back position other than fitness.

I don't think this is limited to just rugby union either.
