No Seiser Photography at Shute Shield this year. Bit of a shame - Paul in particular was very good. Club photographers have been asked to contribute photos to a shared facility for media use. Money must be tighter than I thought.

There we go - someone has spotted your talent.

Interesting to see Sam Latinpulu has returned to Souths after finishing with Queanbeyan in the John I Dent last season and playing some pre season games with Brumbies A this year. What is Apo Latinpulu up to? Don't seem to hear too much about him these days? He had a big future in front of him

Apo is recovering from a shoulder reco and probably won't play this year
Big loss as he is a quality player and person
Sam is super fit and is set for a big season

Randwick were impressive 1st up I thought. The lean trot of the past few years could well have ended.

Good to see Manly coming away from Forshaw with a win - never easy down there.:)

Round 1 1st Grade Results
Easts 10 Randwick 33
Eastwood 34 Norths 23
Parramatta 31 Gordon 16
Penrith 26 University 46
Southern 28 Manly 43

Edit: ABC TV showed wrong score for the game they were televising. Go figure that one out.

Agree Quick Hands. Easts were very average and have a lot of hard work ahead of them. What was the final score at forshaw?

You missed the last try to Ford after a breakout on full time.
Wicks 33 - Easts 10

Easts had the better of the big hits but when wicks got over that hurdle they went about their work well.
Wicks scrum had the upper hand and were unlucky not to be given a penalty try. They did score from the penalty but the backs got the points.
Horowitz was composed and now has a lot of time and his chip for the fullback was very good. The wicks fullback took his kicks well though some of the early 'up and unders' were a bit short
The rucks were a bun fight all afternoon ( in all grades) and a period of ill discipline by wicks in the second half nearly allowed Easts to gain momentum.
Fay made a nice break for Easts but they could not capitalise and Wicks rallied in defence.
The late breakout try gave wicks a four try bonus

Gordon made Parra work for the Two Blues' bonus point win today but the boys in blue showed growing depth. Mind you, it took some dragging back to composure by the experienced Tom Woods and Kaleb Rech after the initial onslaught from an enterprising Gordon, together with solid work from the forwards to put Gordon away. Looking forward to testing ourselves against Manly next week.

New comers wind on and figg were very good for the wicks. Horwitz looks like he has benefitted from a pro preseason and ford finished well. In saying that easts were very very bad, I think it will only get worse as they are said to have no props at the club. The half from easts was good

No props at Beasts?

Didn't Clay Brodie play for Sydney last year, and Australian Barbarians earlier this year?

They were short-staffed in the props when Parra played them in a trial a few weeks ago. I think a fourth grade prop played more than a half in Firsts that day. My apologies to the player concerned if he is not normally a fourth grader - he was described that way to me by an Easts supporter - full credit to him, he played a role in each of the trial matches that day I think, and he toiled manfully.
