Doesn't make sense to me that he'd do this before the RWC where he has a very legitimate chance of being in the 23, not just the squad.

It actually makes sense for players to leave 1 year out from a WC. Since everyone leaves after a RWC there's a massive influx of talent available to clubs and your value would go down significantly - better to get in early and that's what Mowen, Douglas, Pyle, Longbottom etc. have done.

Tomane can realistically push for a starting berth in that team tough, we've all seen that he has the potential. It's disappointing that he potentially doesn't back himself to do that.

One thing that works in the Brumbies favour is that this U20s side has several excellent opensides.

Dempsey is from NSW, Gunn from Qld and Perry from ACT. You'd imagine that that rules out NSW and Qld trying to sign Perry anytime soon.

I think the biggest threat in 2015 will be from the Force who might want to sign a young player to develop behind Hodgson and Alcock (assuming he is still at the Force in 2015).

Hard to know what the Rebels plans are. McMahon and Fainga'a could easily end up as 7s as their careers develop. Fainga'a moreso than McMahon probably.

That clarifies my question. Can't really see Perry going anywhere in Australia if he's a 7. Force have Hodgson and Alcock, Rebels have Fugistaller, Fainga'a and potentially McMahon, Reds have Gill and Robinson and the Waratahs have Hooper with McCutcheon as more a utility back up.

He's not going to get any more opportunity at another franchise barring multiple injuries.

Don't rule out the influence of the patron saint of opportunities, St Catastrophe of the Injuries. Look at the Brumbies the last two years, and the Wallabies against the BILs last year. Who could've foreseen Pocock's twin disasters? Young Perry'll get a run somewhere.

Who wants to talk about fucking tight head props? Scrums are boring. Has Omar Comin got them and penalty goals taken out of the NRC yet?
