So half of GPS 1 is picked on reputation and form from a competition 12 months ago, and the rest of GPS is made up of boys who actually trialed.

Geez, they reckon the Aussie cricket team is hard to get into..?

Good point. Seems some boys flog their guts out at the trials, and all through the off season, knowing that they'll possibly be overlooked by boys who get through even though they're injured. Christensen has barely trained at BBC, and is yet to even play a full game.

agree completely, but are the trials that occur enough for selectors? form or reputation...? can form be found in these trials for the selectors to make the call? or does there need to be more games. as example AIC can base their selections off 7 games and where reputation goes out the window and form from these 7 games can be deduced. any thoughts on the GPS trial system where it is purely on form not name or reputation?

Precisely. It certainly doesn't seem to be a fair system as it is, with no GPS games having been played, so no real match fitness on display. Which is likely the reason NSW are so dominant when it comes to the crunch. A level playing field (pun intended) for all concerned would be great. I don't know what the answer is, or how the system can be changed. I guess time will tell once the QLD sides are chosen and the results are in whether this system is the model we should be using.

doesnt really help young kids coming through who dont have a name for themselves and the ones who do all the hard work pre season and once they get to GPS season and start playing footy they get discovered or realised but it is too late to wind the clock back to around this time of year when gps 1,2 and 3 is more often than not picked on reputation and name

BBC got 5 in GPS team 1.
Taumoua-Swain(now injured) in team 1 ahead of Leyland in team 2??

As GSP predicted Farrell & Edwards also in team 1.

4 in team 2 and 4 in team 3.Ngamu also injured.

My thoughts exactly. The future of our game relies on all these boys staying the course, and playing further after school. Some of them are likely to wonder what the point is after all their work goes unnoticed. I'm not saying all the boys who make the GPS teams get through on reputation, obviously there are some superbly talented boys in the system, but it's frustrating to see many of the boys who are selected give Union away and turn to league after their school boys careers finish, when others play for the love of the game as much as for selection. The game we all love so much will be the loser in the end

Absolutely positive. Those three are starters

I believe you, I am shocked, that's all. Leyland is a beast - hard tackler, aggressive at the break down, and already 18. Swain seems softer, easier to go down, and nowhere near as aggressive. Just my opinion..

So,

Gavin Luka
Alex Mafi
James McColl
Angus Scott-Young
Dylan Leyland
Tuaina Tualima
Jaidan Schultz
Reece Hewat
Harry Nucifora
Alex Horan
Joey Fittock
Calvin Pritchard
Dean Bender
Tyrone Hussey
Tyrone Southorn

So this team with 5 form NC and 1 from BBC is incorrect???

There has been a lot of names thrown around for GPS both 1 and 2 . Can someone inform me with correct team lineups or are they not official yet ?

The teams were picked GPS 1 then GPS 2 then GPS 3 then reserves were picked for 1, 2 and 3. In other words the first reserve for GPS 1 is actually the 46th player picked

That is incorrect I have heard that they picked GPS 1 then reserves the GPS 2 then reserves and so on.

@Breakdown it appears your source was off. I'm really surprised though, the team I/we thought had been selected seemed bloody good.
