It's actually hard to knock what the selectors have gone with , given I have now only seen 4 of the sides play. But I must say that Woodhill and Emery must have suffered due to Shore struggling over the last 12 months. That takes nothing away from the boys picked because they must be on fire and the selectors are collating info on all players. While the View front row looked better at scrum time, the Newington front row were pretty strong around the ruck. Given they only have 2 sessions before the CAS game on Tuesday they may have been inclined to go with some critical combinations. For those boys that feel hard done by, as recently as last year, Hutchison was originally picked in GPS thirds, along with Fotukava. HH made Australia school boys, and Fotukava Australia A. I believe the NSW selectors are looking at every boy with objectivity, so if your in it somewhere you're a chance. Congrats to all boys regardless of team. It is fine recognition for strong performances so far thus season.

Would definitely back GPS 2's over the GPS 1's side especially in the forwards. IMO the Scots forwards are benefiting from the structure that they play with and I would not rate many of them over their opposition in GPS 2's, however two 50+ wins in a row is a far assessment. The 2's front row and back row are stronger than the 1's, Prichard is deadset the best hooker in GPS whilst Woodhill and Hayson were hard done by, Smith in 2s is a great call and I tip him to gain higher rep honours. Emery was hard done by, should have been in 1s or 2s, but again you can't argue with Scots boys being selected coming after the last two weeks and also remember that last year Hutch made Schoolboys after being selected in GPS 3's. The 2's back line is also very strong, Joeys and Newington connection will be a fantastic one too watch.

When I look at the sides, for me the debate is not so much about who eg Emery etc not making the 1's, it's more about Emery, Bowditch, Hendrie etc missing the 2's. I think that in a group where there are so many quality players, some one is always going to be disappointed by missing 1's, but I am more amazed that those boys mentioned didn't make the 2's. There seems to be a huge range of abilities in the Blue and White teams. There are some boys who are in cracking form mixed in with boys in not such fine form. It's a timely reminder that at this stage the job in front of these boys is to whip CAS and CHS this week. After that, it's true that any one who plays this week can get a run at higher rep honours regardless of their team next week. Looking across these sides, I think there will be quite a few " bolters " picked to push higher. Any way good luck to all boys selected to play this week, what a fantastic opportunity and an exciting time.

What a difference a year and different selectors can make. For example, Wright wasn't selected for either Sydney Juniors or Schools for the U16s nationals last year (although I thought he was hard done by) but now finds himself in GPS 1s. From all reports he scored a cracking try for Joeys yesterday. Good luck to him and all boys selected.

Good comment. If it's any consolation to those boys feeling hard done by, McCalman (K), Deegan (J), Short (S) were all selected in GPS 2 last year and went on to represent Australian Schoolboys at home and on the UK tour. Each of them stepped up to prove their quality and McCalman captained the Oz team.

Could someone tell me about this 12 from scots D England, i've never heard of him until last night, and M girdler as well, seems to me that a few BIG calls have been made in GPS selections, i just hope there's no politics in the NSW pickings, good luck to all players who have gained rep honours
