To avoid any confusion, the Melbourne based Team in Super Rugby is called the Rebels.

The Southern Districts Rugby team in the Sydney Shute Shield is no longer called the Rebels.

They are referred to as The Hobbits, to reflect their location within The Shire.

Tim Metcher is a tighthead prop. As is Dan Palmer.

Tim Metcher plays for Southern Districts. As did Dan Palmer.

Tim Metcher has represented Australia at the JWC. As did Dan Palmer.

Two New South Welshman making a name for themselves at rival franchises. Check.

Unkempt hair. Check.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say Metcher is the younger doppelganger of one Mr Dan Palmer, destined to single-handedly solve Australia's scrummaging woes.

Young Tightheads don't solve scrum woes.

Experienced ones do. Why Longbottom would have been important if he could have been retained. At 28 years old and with 55 or so Super Caps, he would have sincerely helped.

Disagree. By 28 Carl Hayman was considered the best tight head in the world and was ending his test career.

Props improve with age, but if it takes until their late 20s to get to a point where they are even considered for a wallaby squad they clearly are not going to be solving any scrum woes, at their peak they are only just showing they are capable.

Quality props solve scrum woes. Quality props show potential from an early age and only get better.

Like Scott Sio.. Or Dan Palmer rated as our best The retired age 25... 24 last year.. Or our best LHP Slipper old as at 25.

Edit that sounded like a dig but wasn't just agreeing good props are always good

Nup. I guess McGahan just wanted to make changes.
Probably. What comes to mind is a) where is Marty going (I assume back to the reds) and b) who is replacing him? Looks like lab is overseas on holidays so may be waiting to announce something when he returns.

My info was "irreconcilable differences"

Sounds like something from the divorce courts. I did like the guy, but I guess all good things come to an end at some stage.

Like I said earlier, wonder what TT has planned for a forwards coach.
