And your telling me they dont do that for the NRC? speaking of bullshit.

No. Fox Sports is paying a broadcast fee which covers travel costs. So not only do they not subsidize it, they receive revenue which offsets other costs of the tournament.

You firmly believe that a competition based in one city with 12 teams and as a result not include 80% of Australia's professional player's would be better than one with 9 teams include all Australia's professional players?

I do as the majority come from NSW anyway which feeds in to the Sydney competition. A lot of players also make the move to play in the stronger competition. They still do without the funding.

The Rebels, Force & Brumbies are absolutely pretty much wasting there time looking at the club competitions they run and the effort it takes to produce one professional player let alone the structure and development the Shute Shield has.

Stop speaking bullshit. Papworth misquoted the ARU salaries and now you have almost double what they are.

I'm not defending anything. I'm pointing out the factual errors that you are stating. You said we were 6th. We are not. it's 2nd. You can check here:
http://www.worldrugby.org/rankings#mru

I've not passed comment on whether it's adequate. There is statistics to back all this up. Try reading annual reports. You've seemed happy to criticize me for reading reports which are not published then quote bullshit on details which are publicly available.

If your gonna call me up on bullshit, we'll be hear all day pulling you up my pedigree chum. And i never said anything about 6th, another lie.

What are you talking about?! i just quoted you numbers on what has literally happened financially to Super Rugby franchises at the cost of club rugby and the NRC!

Where do you get off?

Rays - 4 clubs
Rams - A private consortium with each club having a 5% minority stake
Stars - Warren Livingstone
NSW Country - Rick Hutchinson and Peter Tonkin and a group of business men.

Rays: at a loss (sources confirmed)
Rams: at a loss (sources confirmed)
Stars: at a loss (sources confirmed)
Country: not a clue

And that majority gets smaller each year. But i'm sure if we dig our heels in hard enough we can ensure the game never grows.

And how do you suggest the Rams got that private consortium & the other additional support offered by the clubs at zero price. Stars without Sydney Uni would have folded in a day financially.

NSW Country would have folded as well without the financial support offered by Randwick & Easts. This obviously includes contra arrangements as well.

So yeah, fox sports are funding something that doesn't make money. Hard to tell whether the shute shield would as well, but the structures are in place to renovate instead of demolish and start again, a greater financial loss

Two States NSW & QLD - yes. History has 2 RWC and a number of Bledisloes as well to help support that.

But were / what state did the players of those 9 teams do their schooling?

Come on tell me - what makes up that 80%, what states did they do their schooling?

TWAS - I asked questions that you seem to have missed when i responded to your question

The teams came about because people who never invested in Shute Shield saw the benefit in doing so in the NRC.

I can say that Randwick did not offer financial support in 2015. Unless it was either not included in their annual report, or was included under another title. But surely any financial support for an NRC team would be easily identifiable line item, not hidden under other headings.

The 2015 SU annual report similarly offers no details of NRC funding, nor mentions it in the brief before the financial statement.

Manly does make not of NRC costs in their financial summary though.

Dave, didn't I say that the majority were QLD and NSW currently (this slowly decreases as the game grows and we engage athletes outside of this though), but there is no demand for broadcast product only in QLD and NSW?

Hmmm, wonder why didn't invest in it....

Not really. Nobody is willing to fund Shute Shield. It will never have appeal outside Sydney.

Had enough appeal to attract pretty much most professional players in Australia before the NRC and the Super Rugby clubs deliberately blocking the players from playing in a competition they wanted to play in.

You mean before rugby was professional?

Rising & Spirit where funded straight off the back of ARU keeping Force & Rebels ticking along. That is nothing against the decision to do that, or the teams I referenced, I am saying that as it contradicts a number of areas that are being missed with regards to the growth of rugby.

Most recently the ARU has contributed funds / sponsorship to the JGC and to all those players stay in rugby for the season?

Guys, any chance in shifting this topic to the ARU / Australian Rugby thread, SS is to good for this rant;).

Possibly because external sources provided the funding required.

And in Randwick's case, they have about $100,000 left in the bank.

Yeah, except they couldn't afford ice, or lollies, and volunteers from the clubs had to support the franchises for the good of their players, but yeah, your absolutely right, really well funded #facepalm
