Alright mate everyone needs to let a bit of steam off every once in a while good to chat and enjoy the rest of your day. Cranbrook looking strong this year in the 16's so let's get keen for a thriller

Especially when they lost to Kings by 100?????

You know after a tough loss you have to look at the positives. I think there are positives in such a tough loss in that the boys from Brook will be battle hardened and fired up for CAS round 1.

A few young fellas around here, but CAS sides getting a whipping from the GPS teams pre-season isn't anything new.

Don't read too much into the trial form. The comp starts next week and if we know anything about schoolboy rugby, it's that a week is a very long time!

"...the players in question here from my perspective seemed to play just as hard as every other man on the pitch."

If the Knox forwards generally, and those boys in particular, had played just as hard as their Joeys counterparts the result would have been much tighter. If however that is as hard as they can play, then the season is going to be much tougher than I had anticipated.

"However I would like some justification on how these players do not play as part of a team "

So would I. Given your username you would seem close to them. Perhaps you can ask them and report back?

Shouldn't the one attempting to humiliate players (assumingly) much younger then you be able to justify why he has made these claims?

Giving that the pre season trial games are now finalised, based on trial game form would anyone be close to picking the all important CAS 1st xv to face off and compete with the juggernaut of GPS. Would anyone be able to propose a team from 1-15?

Just pick the same team that beat GPS two years ago in the 16s if they're still playing.I think it's going to be pretty much the same with maybe a couple of changes.

Names that should be in the mix for CAS selection assuming injury free.

I used the last years CHS,GPS matches and the Nth Sth U16's match as a basis. Not sure how many U16's have made the jump successfully due to lack of trial reports on many games.

Allo's: Dainton, Mazaraki, Slave
Knox: Frost, Margin, Basson, Grindal, Bosch, Woodcock, Armstrong
Trinity: Rasch, Longville
Cranbrook: Stenmarck, Spira, Renton
Waverly Wright,Narayen
Barker: Anstey, Buffa, Reimer, Van Woerkom

Apologies to Waverley, Allos, Trinity and Brook teams, but I have not seen that much comment or team lists on the chats.

Not sure if that's a great idea BSF. Boys grow at different rates and get faster/ slower, etc. particularly between year 10 and yr 12. It also assumes that the team can't be improved upon utilising talent from the additional age group(s) available. Certainly GPS will pick the players most 'in-form' now.

Chipkick you are pretty close to my pics on CAS backline:

9. Bosch (K)
10. Darcy Searl (C)
11. J Mohi (W)
12. Tom Fuller (W)
13. Armstrong (K)
14. Slaven (A)
15. Longville (T)

Searl has been playing great at 10, and I must admit I haven't seen Aloys (Dainton?), so Slaven I have picked on incumbency

Fuller and Mohi are in awesome form.

Knox's Armstrong needs to stop running so much across field ... as it is effectively saying the rest of my backs are crap ... and I can do better solo than by passing

and Bosch I think is more reliable than Tyzac (W)

re forwards ... I like that super tall Knox second rower ... he actually has a pretty good step ... based on Joeys game alone, he'd be in contention

re Cranbrook captain being red carded .. was that Kemeny?

does red have to be a week off ... seems harsh given some reds can be as simple as one accidental/ugly looking lifting tackle .. no malice

forwards ... hmm bit unimpressed by most of Knox other than Mr Tall Timber

Basson was Ok ... despite fumbling over the Joeys tryline

I'd be trialing the Knox 3rds hooker ... by the sound of it

... Finn Wright (W) would have to earn back his place by improving his discipline ... no more cards

so my forwards

1. Wayland (T)
2. Grindall (K)
3. Anstey (B)
4. Rasch (T)
5. Mr Tall Timber (K) or P Clifton (W)
6. Basson(K)/Kemeny (C)
7. B. O'Sullivan (W)
8. E Rogers- Smith (W)

Nev Cottrell (35)
Spira stuck under a barbell ... not sighted ... not even at Easts

so if I had to pick my team
1. Anstey (B)
2. Grindall (K)
3. Wayland (T)
4. Rasch (T)
5. Frost (K) Ireland (K)
6. P Clifton (W)
7. B O'Sullivan (W)
8. E Rogers- Smith (W)
9. Bosch (K)
10. Searl (C)
12. Fuller (W)
13. Armstrong (K)
14. Mohi (W)
15. Longville (T)

pretty handy team

Think you got the names mixed up SDW, Nick Frost i believe is the tall timber you were referring too.

So does anyone know the year 10 boys taking the step up into the 1's? Know Reimer and Tjeck from Barker and possibly 1 or 2 from Trinity

just watched a bit of the sidestepper tape

apologies to Basson .. it wasn't he who fumbled over the line

is Knox playing "pod" rugby .... gee it looked clunky ... whatever it was

...getting tangled up with one another, no fluidity

are all the schools going for this "pod" thinking .... certainly it has it's limitations

when it becomes too mechanical ... prefer how Joeys moves the ball around

always stretching ... perfect for wearing down overly big/immobile teams
