Whatever happened to the weekly subbies blurb. They've just given up full stop on the game.

My tip for Div 2 is

Newport over Bobs
Hills over Hunters
UNSW over Forest (tip of the week)
Waverley over Mountains.....just....this one might be tighter than expected

All home teams for me this week.

3rd Man In give us your tips this week!

Righto vet, im not very good at this but ill give it a crack.

Div 1.
Balmain v Drummoyne - the battle for the iron cove bridge, and what a rubbish bridge it is. It will be a hard local derby with balmain taking the points here.

Div 2.
Hills v Hunters Hill - these 2 will tustle it out to see who can cement a place in the top 4 after the first round of matches are compete. Hills broke HH underfeated streak at this venue last year. Im tipping hills to take this one out.

Div 3.
What a rubbish round for this comp. Mark my words there will be cricket scores. However look to the bottom of the ladder. Hawkesbury Valley v KOB's - 3rd last v last will be an absolute bludger of a game but maybe kobs chance to knotch a win up. Im tipping kobs - cmonnnnn.

Div 4.
Blacktown v Rouse Hill - top of the table, should shape up to be a good clash but judging by the plethora of points the blacktown boys have scored they will run away with this. Blacktown by 30.

Enjoy the round.

Thats all folks.

After Hunters Hill defeated Hills comfortably 19 to 7 in 1st grade yesterday, there was a good fight back by Hills in the 2nd half the refs 3 2 1 was interesting, real interesting 3 points to Hills player, 2 points to a Hills player and 1 point to a Hunters Hill winger, wow !
The Hunters Hill Fijian 7 was by far the best on ground !

Massive result with Blue Mountains towelling Waverley at home. Anyone have a match report? Even last placed Mountains in Colts recorded a draw with high flying Waverley. Good to see every club is capable of an off day.

Great game of footy at Waverley on Saturday. Blue Mountains set the tone early with some heavy defence and on the back of that raced to a good lead. Waverly came back with a couple of tries out wide and it was close at half time. Second half Waverley were held scoreless and Mountains went on with the job.
Waverly have a very good backline and an excellent kicking game. They kicked to the corners for the majority of game and tried to work for a mistake. Mountains worked hard across the park and looked like they could score a try from anywhere. There is a good mix of youth and experience in that team.

Waverley sure are strong throughout the grades. Very well structured and some talent all the way down to fourth grade. They also can throw a party. The speeches after the game were very entertaining. Great club spirit. Very impressive.

Near enough. They're a good side, with some ex-Kentwell talent to bolster them. Three yellow cards didn't help our cause, and reports are Oscar nominations will be good for The Warriors this year.

Second Grade was competitive right up until a couple of late tries, as the ref got sick of the talk from both sides. Didn't help that our fullback got flattened, and the ref said it was probably a yellow or red card under the Laws, but that he "wouldn't be doing that today". o_O

At this point, with a Championship lead of approximately one metric shitload (370 points or nearly two full rounds) you can basically shut the gate on Blacktown lifting the shield. We had two games to catch them, but it would take a mighty effort from here given the scores their First Grade are racking up.

Need other clubs to take them down and give e.g. Canterbury a shot at it. Not going to be us, though I'm confident we can get into the finals in at least 2 grades and anything can happen from there.

Tips this weekend for Each Division

Div 1
Lindfield v Colleagues- Lindfield are hanging in their in Div 1 have only chalked up the 1 win but have not been losing by massive margins at all, but think things will change this weekend with Colleagues winning convincingly after their loss last weekend by bouncing back

Petersham v Knox- Match of the Round, Petersham will have their tails up after knocking of Competition heavy weights Colleagues Last week, Knox as well getting a convincing win last week so this should be a good tight game, going to say Knox by a couple

Balmain v St Pats- Balmain to do this by Plenty against a St Pats Team/Club that is a shadow of what it has been in previous seasons Balmain by 20

Drummoyne v Mosman- Again Drummoyne not as potent as they once were but are still hanging in their with only a win outside the 4 , Mosman continuing to show they are a club to be reckoned with in Div 1, Mosman by 15-20

Div 2
Hills v Newport- last time around Hills were embarrassed Round 1 at Porters Reserve and Newport since then have had a indifferent season. going to go with Hills in this one

Forest v Blue Mountains- Match of the Round, Forest are travelling a bit like Newport with a few different results and Mountains are travelling very nicely after a Massive win against Waverley last weekend, going to go Mountains in this one

Waverley v UNSW- We could very well see another upset this weekend, UNSW have been going close against some of the competitions best and this week I think may just be their week they come home with the W... UPSET OF THE WEEK

Barker v Hunters Hill- Expect a cricket score here, Hunters Hill by plenty against a club that is struggling big time, going Non Contested Scrums in all grades bar 1st grade proves why

Div 3 and 4 to come shortly

Div 3
Epping v St Ives- Interesting game coming up here, Epping knocked over one of the Competition heavyweights Redfield and went down to Brothers, would have to say the boys from Epping will be too strong at Home in 1st Grade but expect the spoils to be shared around in lower grades

Hawkesbury Valley v Oatley- very close to being match of the round, 2 teams towards the bottom of the ladder which are continually improving week in and week out, will say the Valley will get the W this weekend, don't believe the boys from Oatley will travel out to McQuade Oval to well.. Keep an eye out for Junior Paulo in 3rd Grade he's already played this week so would be keen to back up and get his 2nd Cap for Oatley

Redfield v Iggies- Redfield will win by a country mile, they wouldn't be disappointed to lose last week to Epping and should be raising the bat at least once in this fixture

HAC v Brothers- Match of the Round, can anyone stop HAC?? one feels they must be due for a slip up, Brothers are travelling under the radar this season after dropping back down to Div 3 and are sitting right on the tails of HAC, should be a cracker.. Brothers to get the Win very late in the game

Kings v Beecroft- Another Cricket score on the way, Beecroft really starting to hit their strides again after knocking off Brothers the other week, expect them to rack up triple figures possibly

Div 4
Mac Uni v Harlequins- Harlequins will take this out comfortably and will be hoping there are no scenes like there were last week at Macquarie University Fields... ( Jump onto to the Subbies Unoffical Facebook page to see the article)

Briars v Irish- should be close this game, have to go with Irish purely on the scoreline in round 1, don't think it will be anywhere near the margin though, Irish by 15

Blacktown v Canterbury- Match of the Round, Another top of the table clash this week for 2 clubs that continue to dominate Division 4, Canterbury have been a good tip for this season but I don't think they will knock off the Competition front runners, Blacktown by 10

Mid Season Wrap - DIV 2

Waverley CC 1417 - Undefeated in 2s, 3s and 4ths......top 4 in 1sts and Colts. Get them up to DIV 1!!!.....they are ready

Hunters Hill CC 1103 - Top of the table in 1s but i'm still not convinced they can win it. Have won 3 games by less than 6 so we will see what happens in Rd 2. Top four in 2s, 3s and colts.....expect there colts to fade but they should have at least 2 teams come Semi final time.

Hills CC 1051 - Enormous player depth, will make semis in all grades with 1st grade being a three way tussle for the 4th spot between Forest/Newport or Hills.

Forest CC 905 - Mixed results thus far. Will make semis in 2s and 4ths and will fight it out with Hills and Newport for 4th spot in 1s. I think their colts could be semis contenders after losing 4 by less than 7 in rd 1.

Blue Mountains - Barracloughs big improvers, they could go all the way if they can avoid to many injuries. Have nothing in lower grades and will struggle to field 4ths as the season wears on.

Newport CC 814 - Have struggled with players numbers (particularly away) but are still a chance in 1s. Very good Colts side and 3s are there or thereabouts. Struggling in 4ths for numbers. Newport generally finish the season well so expect them to surprise a few on the home straight.

UNSW CC 695 - Like Newport they have had some narrow loses. Their once mighty Colts must have moved on but they will come home strong in lower grades with a late season stack.

BOBS CC 256 - What can you say.....credit to the guys for turning up week in week out and not letting their club down. No coaches, not enough volunteers. BOBS generally start strong then fade....lets hope that this year is reverse. they'll do well just to hold it all together till season end.

In more bad news for Subbies, Kings Old Boys are forfeiting second grade today against beecroft, meaning that hey will play one quarter of the designated games and st Ives have forfeited fourth grade against Epping.

Yeah it's compounding a bit at KOBs. The old guys (myself included) now don't want to come back and help because we would have to play 2nds, and cop a hiding. I like the club, but I can't put myself through that level of pain sadly.

And those of us who have a grain of human kindness actually sympathise with that. It's shit.

The others don't give a fuck about you. They know who they are.

Mate, I feel for you. I feel for the boys who are in a really tough spot of playing first grade and don't have the ability.

I'm not questioning the club, I know how proud you guys are. It just sucks that Subbies admin and board are so concerned about the extra work that it might be for them rather than the safety of your players.

Your situation doesn't help anyone.

No it doesn't. I do have some sympathy for Subbies, though, in the sense that (as I have been told) we put our hands up for 3rd div this year and said we could provide four teams.

It's been well discussed already here, though. Not an easy situation for anyone, and I also feel for the other clubs in 3rd div who aren't getting a decent Saturday.

On the flip side though, it truly benefits the teams that play you guys twice in this ridiculously uneven draw.

Newport forefeited 4ths to Hills a week after BOBs forefeited 4ths to Newport.

At the other end of the spectrum, I ventured down to watch Mac Uni v harlequins in 4th division on the weekend as it was our old boys day. Was a great day of rugby, 2nds and 3rds were split and first was close until the Quinn's scored 3 late tries to run away with it. Was a good effort all round, especially since we had a ball tearing celebration of our 50th anniversary on the Friday were the beers flowed easy. Gotta say, there was a distinct lack of bellies and love handles on the Quinn's. Don't remember it being like that in my day.
