Has too be the lowest rating Reds match in over 5 years(not including South African matches)

really bad time to play.

I wonder if I am the only one who has an "agreement" to do family stuff all day Saturday and then control the TV on Saturday night for Rugby?

I was never going to watch the game live as I have other stuff to do during the day.

Still a disappointing number though

19,000 attendance though. Can't have been too many bigger crowds at Suncorp this year

Weren't there some 'low 20sK' Suncorp crowds earlier in the season?

(Btw, I think the Reds are now tracking at home crowd numbers under those of the 2008-9 period...I'll check some time)

Just had a look at The Wookie's spreadsheet - I'm pretty sure that's the highest crowd since the game against the chiefs in June last year

The afternoon games really shouldn't be at the expense of of prime time games.

A 7.30 game on the Eastern Seaboard is really important. Same for the Force games on a Friday night with no lead in game. That's a bloody stupid thing to do, particularly when they could play prime time Saturday.

Just checked the 2009 Reds' home games crowds via: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Super_14_season

It is so that Reds' 2016 crowds - mostly hovering around the 17k mark - are generally tracking below the Reds' 2009 crowds which mostly hovered around the 19k mark.

(2009 being the annus horribilis for the QRU where income had receded so badly that the ARU had to mount a multi-million $ bailout of the QRU.)

For whatever reason the usual source didn't publish super Rugby ratings this weekend.

Shute Shield on 7two - 28k

------------

Random paytv ratings for comparison.

NBA finals Warriors v Thunder - 89k (which was a stupendous game)

Monaco GP on foxsports - 190k
On 10/one - 415k

Found them on http;//forums.mediaspy.org - such as they were

My sources generally come from

Mediaweek twitter (obviously, especially for the ones who dont make the daily top 20 lists)
http://forums.mediaspy.org
http://www.tvtonight.com.au
http://thinktv.com.au (weekly top 40, every monday morning before 12)
http://regionaltam.com.au (regional ratings, a week behind, every monday before 12)
http://sportstvratings.com (US ratings)

Afternoon games are a great idea, we need them.

(Just not too many).

Sure Arvo games are fantastic, but not for those who sit in the Eastern stand or those who play Subbies and stick around to watch first grade. If the QRU/NSW etc want more people invested in Rugby to turn up to Saturday afternoon games, they'll need to dictate that Clubs can't play at the same time.

BUT, that pisses a lot of players off as games get shifted to Sunday meaning unless you're keen on playing hungover, you're Saturday is a pretty quiet one.

So average Australian viewer numbers and crowds are both up, despite a drop in Sydney crowds? That's a bit surprising, but good.
You have to be really careful comparing across years. The numbers are heavily dependent on which games actually get publicly reported and it's often the bad ones that don't show up.

The wookie does fantastic work collating it all, but he can only work with what's made available.

Precisely - especially with Super Rugby where we dont get all the figures for some reason. Thank god for mediaweek for the ones we do get though.

Your best bet to compare is to look at the end of year annual reports where they talk ratings and crowds - if they release a full report.
