It appears that Eddie is going ahead with the monster pack, I can see a big bok style ball in hand bash festival coming.

We will need our big shoulder pads.

Thankfully they will run out without a fetcher, otherwise ..........

@Intruder, I recognise you have been spot on with some predictions about the Reds over the season, but no way can I see Cheika playing Folau at 12. That would simply weaken the No 15 spot, and if another new comer starts at 13, ie Kerevi, the centre partnership would be a huge unknown.

If some training combinations indicate that thinking, it just might be mind games on the part of Cheika.

My expectation, if Lealiifano isn't available, is Phipps, Foley, Horne, Kerevi, Kuridrani, DHP, Folau, with Hodge possibly on the bench. If Christian is available, he will either replace Hodge on the bench, or start at 12 with Kerevi going to the bench.

I am also still a doubter about Morahan's abilities at this level. He has never looked comfortable in test rugby, and was reknowned as a turnstyle in defense when he was at his peak a few years ago. Pending the return of one or both of Tomane and Speight, Horne should be a walk-up starter at 11 where he's played some beauties for the Wallabies in recent times, and DHP should be on the right wing where his ability under the high ball and returning the ball will complement Izzy's game just nicely.

Not sure how you can judge Morahan about not looking good at test level from that one test at fullback in atrocious weather conditions.

I have faith in the guy and his defence. Just take a look at his game against the B&I Lions. A solo try and 2 try saving tackles. Good players always lift there game against top opposition. He did that, he is capable, we just need to see it consistently from him.

For me the forwards pick themselves (either Horwill starts with Simmons or Arnold does the. It's either then Skelton + McCalman or Horwill/Arnold and McMahon on the bench.)

In the backs I have previously advocated
9. Phipps
10. Foley
11. Horne
12. Lilo
13. Kuridrani
14. DHP
15. Folau

21. Pickle
22. Kerevi
23. Harris/Hunt

Due to the issues with Christian's son taking his sweet bloody time it may now be prudent to go with

12 Kerevi
13 Kuridrani
14 DHP
15 Folau

21 Frisby
22 LILO
23. Morahan

Am I the only one still worried about our scrum?
England traditionally strong in this area and our win over them in RWC was hyped up so much - when in reality they won a few scrum penalties early on and it wasn't until our reverses came on that we completely dominated.

And line-out. Always a worry with the Pooper.

And their back-three are under-rated. White and Watson were superb at the RWC, probably their only consistent players and always looked dangerous.

Goal-kicking always a worry too, can't expect Foley to land any difficult kicks from the side-line or more then 40m out.

agree,
and who is our back up kicker and 10 if Foley goes down, and Lilo is in hospital?

I can probably save you a few hours tomorrow also. The team announcement is scheduled for 1pm apparently.

Brumby Runner, I understand but I'm just telling you what I have seen and heard.

1. Sio
2. Moore
3. Holmes
4. Simmons
5. Arnold
6. Fardy
7. Hooper
8. Pocock
9. Phipps
10. Foley
11. Hodge/Naiyavoro/Morahan
12. Folau
13. Kuridrani
14. Horne
15. DHP

That's what it has been for the last week in preparation. That and a bench of;

16. TPN
17. Slipper
18. Kepu
19. Horwill/Skelton
20. McMahon
21. Palu
22. Frisby
23. Morahan/Lealiifano (if he trains tomorrow)

Yeah, there are all sorts of pundits saying they'll play a fast, open game. Not a chance. They'll try to win the collisions and bully us close to the ruck, within the range of their forwards. We have to not get sucked into that.

Izzy at 12 could be genius, could be disastrous. The wingers and FB will definitely need to go looking for work with he and TK on their inside.
