no one has really mentioned Horne as a possibility to play 12? He would fill the crash ball role nicely and has great defence. You could then counter this by having DHP on one wing and Izzy at full back to inject themselves into the line and take pressure off Foley.

He's lost a fair bit of weight since his crashball 12 days. Do you think that 7 or 8 kilos could be a problem?

With Poite, keep the scrum square and no nonsense early.

If lilo is pencilled in to play 12, than having folau sub for him in training till he is back from hospital is probably fine. Israel is pretty set in playing 15 and knows how to play it there.

If he does play 15 in defense he would probably play 13 most of the time in attack because he has been the best 13 in super rugby this year by a fair way imho. Had a few beers, not really humble.....

Rugby 360 tonight was indicating Rory Arnold had the second row spot with Simmons, and that Lealiifano would start at 12. He has arrived in Brisbane and will get a couple of training runs with the team apparently. Incidentally, he and his partner had a boy, yesterday (Tuesday).

Benn Robinson explained the preferred nakeup of the tight five very clearly. He expects Sio and Moore to be kept together in the starting side and because of their established combinations with Arnold pushing behind. Similarly, the Reds' combination will be retained at THP and TH Lock.

Only spot they thought there was any conjecture over was the open side winger which will probably go to DHP.

Will be interesting to see if their intelligence is right.

I watched 360 too, I hadn't considered the combination with Sio and Moore in Arnold's possibilities of inclusion in the side. I had him a chance of making a debut later in the series. It sounds like he will be in the starting side, or at worst on the bench. Simmons has one spot locked up and you'd expect Horwill to have the other. That has Mumm being left out or possibly competing for the reserve utility spot with McCalman. I think McMahon will also be in the 23 with a 6:2 bench.

Poite is a pedant esp at scrum time but generally only early on: do the basics right for the first 20-odd & he'll cut you some slack later in the game. Jackson's not much of a ref IMO but as an AR does have the advantage over RPS (& a few others) of not sticking his nose in where it's not needed & seemingly just because he can.
