No coach, no flyhalf, no tighthead, no depth at lock, no centre or depth in back 5.

Reds sign 2 number 8s and a 7. We need a 7 of Smiths calibre no doubt, but I am worried that a coaching role might be part of the deal to get him to come to QLD.

We don't have a coach, but I don't see a player like Smith coming to a team like QLD without some assurances over who is the coach. We can only wait and see. And good for him if he has coaching aspirations. I'd be more than happy to see him develop those in QLD too.

No flyhalf? QC (Quade Cooper) a strong candidate from all reports, but you are right we need it confirmed.

Lock depth has confounded me. Simmons, Douglas and Neville aint a bad start. Chuck in 3 of the Oz U20 locks and it aint bad back up.

Some more signings to come, don't you worry about that

I've long bemoaned the way that Australian rugby never seemed to place great emphasis on the over 30yr old players, but they still have their place in the game, the experience and mentoring they can provide is just as important as their onfield contribution. Being over 30 doesn't mean you can't compete at the top level, NRL has similar physical requirements and many of the top players in the game are in their 30's.

Moore and Smith are the perfect foil for a team which has been poorly coached for the past 3 years.

What a great signing. Smith will add a wealth of experience, he is playing some great rugby now too!

He might be 36 but I think he's still up to it. Didn't he win Euro player of the year?
Even if I'm wrong he will be very good off the bench for the last 20mins of games, whilst mentoring the rest of the forward pack.

Can't wait to see him back in Aus.

Looks like the Reds may have some handy players next year (even if they all are backrowers), shame they don't have a decent coach..... :(

Reds will have the same amount of back-rowers as other teams, 6 to 7 back-rowers is standard for a squad of 35. Gill is going overseas, Fakosilea signed with the Brumbies and the future of Browning/Shatz is yet to be confirmed but its probable one of them won't be at the Reds in 2016.

Houston, Smith and Timu are replacing those players who are departing.
