Chill Red Heavy.

But if you do want to talk about Uni v Easts last Saturday - what was your read of the last Uni try?

I am not having a go at Uni with this comment I just want an objective view on it from someone who was there.

I heard that the ref asked the assistant ref whether it was a try and they said no but the ref then disregarded the asst ref and awarded the try - sounds like an unusual turn of events and I am surprised that no one has made comment on it here.

You can't see on the video because players are in the way but audio is clear - touchie says the player didn't go out but he couldn't see if ball was grounded in goal - asks the ref if she could see a grounding in goal - she says yes - touchie then says "then I think it's a try" - try then awarded.

Was a good process between them to get a decision. None of the Easts players blew up about decision so looks like they knew it was a try.

GPS seeking a new Premier Grade Head Coach:

"EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST - GPS RUGBY CLUB PREMIER GRADE HEAD COACH

GPS Rugby Club Inc. is seeking expressions of interest from suitable candidates for the role of Premier Grade Head Coach.

[Detais of Role]

Expressions of interest are open until 5pm, Sunday July 3, 2016."

Have heard we have attempted to get Mick Heenan to make a return but why would he do that?

Wonder where Dammers is off to or have the club decided to move on from him? If it's the club making the move, that's not going to help our charge at the finals this year!

Looks like we've joined Wests in being the first two clubs to be making a change in head coach for 2017 if the rumor I heard today out of the Kennel is correct.

Dizzle, Red Galloper, GPS - what's happening with Dammers?

I would have thought he was only 2 years into a 3 year plan and to be fair to him GPS had a terrible injury list in 2015, and they are a chance of getting 4th in 2016?

Will be interested to hear the GPS supporter's side.

He is regretfully leaving on his own terms to spend more time with his family and work commitments getting a bit more serious taking over a better role with his company. Made the announcement to us boys couple weeks back.

Totally different blokes and total different approaches. Also with totally different personnel so it's really hard to say both have my respect though and good blokes you can have a beer with! :)

Tnx GWS - very diplomatic of you.

I would have thought that objectively Shane got more out of the players he had.

Tough gig for Dammers coming in after Arnold, especially considering the success they had under his reign. The exodus of many senior players from Prems and Reggies the year previous didn't help Todd's cause either. They have rebuilt well this year and are just missing a bit more depth in the inside backs. Still a chance of playing finals be it only a slim one but another loss will be game over for 2016.

Credit to Brothers, Uni and Souths who are sitting in good positions to play finals in nearly every grade from Premier down to 4ths.

Uni are always in that situation but it shows some great depth and development from Brothers and Souths who from memory didn't always have the stocks to put quality players on the field in all grades in the recent years gone past.

Has been disappointing though to see Sunnybank drop off a bit, unable to field 3rds and not getting great results in 1sts and 2nds, but will still feature in Premier finals which shows there are quality players there still.

It would appear that Rachel Horton has been dropped this week on the back of her efforts at St Lucia last Saturday - very interesting to see whether she will referee Prems again this year.

I just saw the video of Uni's last try against Easts last week on the Rugby Wrap - I recommend that you take a look at it - how Rachel Horton could have awarded that try is amazing it seems physically impossible that the Uni winger could have grounded that ball. There is simply no evidence to suggest that the ball was grounded - he is bundled into touch in a near upright state meaning he would have to have very long arms to ground the ball. I think the Assistant Referee's comment at the time was "I didn't see him ground the ball" - how the referee who is not even in the vision could have definitively determined that it was grounded is not logical.

I don't think this decision was in isolation as far as interesting refereeing decisions were concerned on the day.

I think it is fair enough for us to expect a high standard of refereeing in Premier Grade commensurate with the talent of the players and coaches at this level - and I think it is fair to say that this may not have been the case for a few years now across the board in Premier Grade.

Having refereed at Junior Level I appreciate that refereeing is a difficult thing to do and just like players, referees make mistakes - but applying sound decision making processes and valuing the input of your assistant referees was simply not adhered to in this instance.

Don't for one minute try and paint me as a misogynist for making these comments - this is about a person's ability to referee at Premier Grade level not what sex they are. Also as a Wests supporter I think I bring a rather objective set of eyes to this particular incident.

I hope that Rachel Horton can drop back down, listen to the feedback she will undoubtedly be given and improve her game, and be back in Premier Grade one day.

Bulldog you seem committed to flogging a dead horse but in reference to that try please refer to Jamie8's post. That is exactly how it happened. The ref valued the AR input and would not have awarded the try without it.
I am also pretty sure that if the ref said she was happy with the grounding then she probably saw the grounding... Even if you can't see her see the grounding which obviously should be a pre rec.

I assume you are in the know with the Ref being dropped thing so I wont question your knowledge on that front. Which is a good thing because I would have just assumed she is down in NSW for the womens national champs. Do you know the reason the other 2 refs got dropped from last weekend?? One of them reffed the Wests games. Surely you must know why.

Lastly after watching him ground the ball myself and seeing on the video that he didn't go into touch, personally I think that we should be praising the uni winger, Jock Campbell, on scoring a wonderful try he had no right scoring. Or Tom Pincus for hitting another clutch kick.

Red Heavy I am watching this through objective Green and Gold eyes as opposed to your one "red" eye!!!

Maybe ask some of the Uni players and coaches as to whether they thought it a try - there were some tweets from the Uni connection who established some doubt over the awarding of the try.

Regardless you are missing my point - I am not simply talking about the awarding of this particular try I am talking about the overall standard of refereeing in QPR.

It is just lucky that Easts aren't in semi-final contention otherwise they would have much justification in kicking up a stink - which respectfully they haven't.

For the records - I agree Pincus would have to be the best clutch goal kicker in QPR - well done him on the conversion.

Again please refer to Jamie8's post (a non red eyed supporter) who has seen the full event (like myself) not just a 5 second snippet on QPR weekly.

I did not miss your point of the quality control concerns but since the part you put forward to argue was based around that one decision which as Jamie8's posts states went through the correct process.

Anyway this forum is getting ruined by this argument as it goes around in circles so I will stop now. Feel free to PM me if you have any concerns

Yeah the standard of refs has dropped as soon as refs have moved up and/or moved on!! It's good when you get good refs like hoff and berry usually they get game of the round though the rest have a lot to work on! Damon murphy is another good up and coming ref
