It was 7 tries to 2 in 1sts Colts (47-14) and the 57-22 in 2nds and 45-12 in 3rds to Uni. Are you sure it wasn't good football from Uni?

Agree that losing 10 and 15 didn't help but Uni was missing a few too :)

Saw some good rugby yesterday at Forshaw, although the results of the games were more a demonstration of the Buildcorp rugby program's player recruitment over the past couple of seasons than anything else. This organisation is a truly remarkable demonstration of the triumph of money over principle, and, sadly, the appalling attitude of the players and officials just highlights how far out of step they are with the rest of the rugby community. This was exemplified by the poor form demonstrated by the Buildcorp 2nds, who chose to celebrate their win by singing the team song on the field, just metres away from the Souths players waiting to cheer on their 1st Grade side. This display of arrogance can only be viewed as an attempt to humiliate the players they'd just beaten, and was a truly sad indictment of Buildcorp rugby, and its complete lack of principles.

MODS,

Can we please rename this thread.

The title no longer relevant.

Perhaps "I hate Uni, rant here" might work better

It's not a matter of hate it is more about the stunning realisation that the corporation do
not understand that between their efforts and those of Randwick they are substantially weakening the game that they would otherwise seek to defend.
If the talent available in Sydney Colts were more equitably spread the results at every level of the game would be more likely advanced as the week in week out competition would build better players and stronger teams.
Much better to continue the shallow pool thinking that see's the " our school is better than yours " BS as driving logic.
This game will be destined for worse than it is enduring now if this lasts any longer.
That said hard to see how we can hope for leadership at Colts and Shute Shield level if it is absent at the ARU. How else do you get your free tickets to the Beldisloe??

If you don't have any strong clubs, then you only have weak ones.

Happens at every level of the game. All Blacks, Crusaders, Uni/Randwick, St Joseph's, Chatswood

There are always strong clubs that year in year out will be the benchmark.

What rubbish on every level. And what $$ would that be? My son plays there for the love of the game. I haven't seen the rivers of gold.

Arrogance, humiliation? FFS it was the team song.

if you think that the Crusaders and All Blacks make the recruiting (using Cheika Dwyer etc as bait) of uni and Randwick acceptable then you are part of the problem and not part of the solution.
What needs to happen is that all clubs should get players who played 5 seasons in their juniors for no points and theÿ need to reduce he points allowance for 2s colts to about 1/4 of what it is.

What needs to happen is for the governing body to grow a set and introduce stricter player points rules.

People can complain and moralise all they want about it but Randwick and Uni wont change unless they have to.

That's a fact Jack.

And if the truth be known players want to play at the Clubs for whatever reason, be it due to incentives and/or playing with their mates. And if the Clubs are well run, more reason to stay and enjoy.

It would also be really nice if St Joseph's College shared all their good players with other schools.

It amazes me that boys playing 3rds, 4ths and even 5ths at Joeys would be a good chance of playing 1st XV at another school, say Pats or Alloys or even Grammar.

But their parents have made a choice to send them to Joeys. And sure a big part of that decision is the Extracurricular offering including the high standard of Rugby at Joeys.

Same goes for Uni and Randwick. Boys choose to play there because of the high standard and development opportunities that come with that.

Now, if the points system broke and badly administered then that is a different issue. Needs to be fixed. AFAIK UNI are playing to the rules, and most of the players who played 1st Colts on Saturday are 1 point player.

Honey Badger I don't think Joeys have won the GPS comp in 10 years and not sure what comp you think Chatswood win.
Uni have won the 1st Colts comp for the last 11 years except 2014 when Randwick started their major recruitment drive and got away with one in the wet at Forshaw.
They have a program that demands excellence and have all the facilities to accomodate that thanks to the taxes we pay to support the University. They are a good team but I don't see any other club stand on the sideline and sing their club song they take it into the changeroom. Arrogance and elitist is exactly what I would call it.

By inference , you are happy with the present ongoing "strong clubs" , "weak" clubs dichotomy & it's consequences.
Perhaps you can indicate what level of disparity between the two should be acceptable to the rest of us , & the ensuing benefit to the competition & our sport which would follow.

Cry me a river, we all pay taxes I might as well get some benefit :)

Why is winning arrogant and elitist? Is losing better? The 2nds Colts are coming 4th so maybe they are pretty pleased beating a tough side.

Most Clubs recruit, some do it better and sooner than others. Most of the so called rockstars from 2017 will have been identified and lured to someones web....

Falk seriously ???!!!???
school boy bullies get a shock when they get out of the playground 'cause the world doesn't care.

That's why competitions have salary caps and draft systems and make sure they work and are adhered to. haventints or disqualify teams even with large sums of money at stake. Do they realise if the love isn't spread around the competition dies. If it grows a little more evenly everyone is better off. Just ask Yurtle the turtle how well propping up one super hero works.

Maybe if you only have one (or two) strong clubs you have a weak competition

Rugby Mum you don't get it do you.
Most clubs don't have the government funded facilities or finances to recruit like Uni.
The arrogance of singing you club song on the field when every other club takes it into the shed.
Good luck to them when SRU finally gets their act together and tightens the points system.
Not to mention the great state that rugby in this country is in and how well our U20's have gone the last few years. No the system is fine they way it is ins't it?

Sing your club songs everyone, leave nothing on the field be proud of what you have done and sing win or not

If the other team is happy about winning .. you made them work ..they are showing you respect ..you have earned the right to sing ...I want to hear all the club songs (some are getting hard to remember)

I think I do get it. Why don't you stop complaining on this faceless forum and actually go and do something rather than blaming someone else. I don't hear you complaining when the Uni boys train 4 nights a week, commit to a long pre season...how many nights a week does your club train?

And as with everything in life, the more you put in, the more you get out.

This is a simple issue but as ever in oz rugby it is self interest, self promotion and jobs for the boys that wins.
The Randwick recruiting of players by reference to their access to Wallaby coaches has been going on since at least Dwyer: how is that reasonable?
Randwick cannot develop their own juniors and so they poach Gordon's, Eastwood's and others - they have more points in Colts 2s than the rules should permit them in 1s.
Uni produce one junior - Gordon - and poach the rest to the extent that a couple of years ago they had to put kids into 3rd grade because they had too many points in colts and Oz schools reps are not permitted to play 3rds colts.
And just to make sure the nepotism can flourish Pat McCutcheon's first job as a coach - his first coaching job - is to coach the NSW U20s: on what basis was that appointment made?
Rugby Mum, you keep looking after Uni rorting a broken system - for their own ends - and you'll get the frigging super rugby results the Tahs deserve when all they have to pick from are the product of lopsided competitions in which you're lucky to get 4 hard games a year. Perhaps your son can go down in history like the thylocene as the last Wallaby.

When I played colts in the early 80's for easts, we were flying flogged by Randwick, Gordon and Eastwood who attracted the Rockstars due to their success. Uni Easts and Norths were perennial promotion/relegation candidates, so there is a cycle and it was no different then. Uni and Norths played an exceedingly tight GF last year, and Easts could have been there. I watched the NZ 20s at the Oceania Championships and Aussie Schools do a pre game Hakka, then a post victory Hakka on the field having won convincingly. Arrogant? Perhaps, but no tears were shed, just a resolve to step up next time
