A couple of boys in Brisbane who finished Gps school rugby today. Hosea- lock at BBC and Phoenix Hunt -9 who captained Nudgee to there premiership today. Both talented youngsters who are in the Aus school boys and BABA squad. Hope they are heading home.

Strong debut from Uelese. On for 10 minutes and had 4 runs for 19 meters and 2 tackles (compare to TPN who had 70 minutes, 4 runs for 5 meters, 2 tackles and 3 missed tackles).
Look forward to actually seeing him play some minutes for the Rebels this year.
First local Rebel to play for Australia. May he be the first of many.

I have a question for anyone who watches the younger development players in particular Uelese.
So I played with him and against him, but he was in the year below me and when I finished school he was still playing at blindside flanker. He was always pretty decent but outshone by Sione, Rob Leota, Fereti and probably even Fereti's younger brother RJ.
Admittedly I never paid him too much attention but he certainly wasn't known as a wallaby in waiting 3-4 years ago.
So what happened to allow him to not only switch positions but become this seemingly wallaby competent player??

I only know what the club says, which is that Nic Henderson saw his potential and got Zane Hilton to look at him.
From that, the conversation around conversion from 8 to 2 was pretty quick; Jordan was up for it, and Hilton reckons he is a scrum machine.
Really love these stories, seeing that coaches do more than teach how to pass, they also identify talent and tweak players. Imagine, that conversation to turn him into a hooker probably, and unknowingly at the time, changed his life.

Ideal if you like your starting scrum to be pushed backwards at a rate of knots.
Vui, Uelese and Lomax on the other hand would have been legendary. What did Totality do to piss him off so much?
Strongest statement I've seen that Wessels, Coleman, the H-P brothers et al are on their way to Melbourne. All in the context of Twiggy taking over the NRC.

Would release Lomax from his contract, he wants to go anyway and has requested a early leave.
Dave Wessels being hotly pursued, they say. Well, an AAP journo says anyway.
Wessels holding fire until he hears more about Twiggy's comp. but, still, a good chance to see him in Melbourne in 2018.

Nope, nothing. I can confirm that I wasn't one of the four interviewed. Probably for the best too...

Gotta say, I'm still an each way bet on whether I want Wessels at the club. Sure, for a first year coach, he did well, but let's be honest, he had good cattle and no baggage.
I'm not convinced he would be a automatic success anywhere, just yet. Was it just a case of right moment right place right time?
I'm not saying he is a bad coach, if anything, no one can say he is good or bad at Super Rugby level because he simply doesn't have the track record yet.
If he does come to the Rebels, I hope I'm wrong, but there does seem to be a big hoo-ha over a bloke who won 6 games. What am I missing that everyone else seems to see?
