Uni with a coach that hasn't lost a game in 2 years and plenty of talent coming up from Colts.

I'd be backing them to make the 6.

With all respect Colts means nothing especially at uni with 30 aussie schoolboys players on scholarships. Uni have a very young team and no Tom Carter so will be a lean year

Agree, Uni are in a rebuilding stage with a lot of youth from their successful colts program and might take a few years to match their full potential

First time in this place I have heard someone saying something positive about Tom Carter.

Any improvement on this year should see uni finish in the top half of the comp.

You either have not been around long, or you have a bad memory (like me). There have been, and still are, a number of Uni supporters around, and they have been vociferous in their praise of Tom Carthorse.

And, to be scrupulously fair, he has been slightly above average for a Shute Shield centre, sometimes. And he did score three tries for NSW against some second-rate representative outfit.

Hearing huge news looks like Penrith Emus are out of the shute shield for good. Will be a bye in 2018

It seems to be doing okay in the heartland, Reg, but a lot of what is said about it is a bit overblown, really.

And of course the heartland is a long way east of Penriff.

I like Sydney club rugby, played it, and have always followed it, even when my club could not win a bloody thing.

It would be interesting to know what the age demographics are, I suspect that the support base skews towards the upper end of the age demographic. People like me, who grew up with it, when there was very little sport on television (and it was televised on the ABC every Saturday arvo) and have just stuck with it.

Struth, are you serious? I hate to ask for facts, but could you post some please.

Which teams had home games that outdrew Tahs home games? Numbers would be appreciated.

I know that my club certainly did not outdraw the Tahs, that is for sure.

^^^^^ I must have deleted mypost (too argumentative)just as you posted your query above.

Both Manly & Rats posted crowds circa 7k on derby day.
Which is significantly higher than the actual crowd against the Kings? When they declared a 10k crowd.
Even in the unlikely event that the Tahs number was factual, the members make up a substantial percentage of the crowd,so paying customers(assuming no freebies in public section) would still be short of those SS games.

I am hearing that there was a boardroom coup at their AGM that lead to an old President retaking over. This saw the 1st grade coach (Huxley). GM, colts coordinator plus most of their 1st grade players and colts all either being sacked or walking away.

Expect Penrith removal from Shute Shield for 2018 to be made official in next few weeks.
