    AIC Rugby 2020

I would be very surprised if it were to be based on F/A especially when the AFL for example was not decided that way. The precedent has been set in other sports to share the premiership. But let's hope everyone gets to play, especially those in their final year.

That is some impressive stats :)

Not sure it is an issue for Lauries just yet. You have remember they are trying to recover from a decade of poor engagement (even finishing 5th in the aggregate one year) which was unheard of). That trend is slowly being addressed but takes time. The challenge for Lauries is cultural. MCA has...

    AIC Rugby 2020

To put this match into context, Ashgrove and Lauries have played 98 times in competition matches since 1941. 1941-1951 in Rugby League and 1953 onwards in Rugby (no matches in 1952). 83 matches to date in Rugby, 37% of matches by 7 or less including 3 draws. The average score is 18-9 to...

That is pretty poor form to suggest Lauries gave up. They defended for most of the second half and conceded only 1 try which came from their own mistake inside their 22. That was due to some excellent pressure by Ashgrove. This was a fine game to watch and you clearly were not there given your...

Lauries was actually forced to leave in 1928 due to a decision by GPS Association which required each school to have a turn wicket and football oval - Lauries at that time owned neither. Conspiracy theorists suggest it was designed to reduce the number of Catholic schools And if they were to...

The DNA of TAS should actually include De La Salle, St Columbans, Rosalie (all originals) and St Pauls - so that would include the likes of Pilecki, Jeff Miller, Troy Coker, Rod McCall and Ben Tune.

They were told if they go for AIC they could not do Confro because of the overlapping schedule. Pretty simple to understand really. Regardless of what you think, they did.

I think most of the Lauries boys chose AIC over Confra. They had to make a choice between the 2.

It will be interesting but they are going back to what worked pre-2010 before the wheels fell off the rugby program. They also have a number of old boy coaches back in the fold to assist. Signs are promising, but not yet there just yet.

    AIC Rugby 2016

To say Laurie's typically struggles in the aggregate is incorrect. Prior to 2010 they did not finish outside of the top 3. The period between 2010-2015 was Teh worst in its proud history so needs to be put in context. The program is back on the improve as evidenced by last season but it has a...

Yes there is - they have lost 6 in total from their under 15's to GPS schools (Iona 4 I understand in the same age group) that we have talked about before. Year 8 and 9's are now the greatest risk of being poached. Lauries has been trying to address this and the old boys are now heavily involved.

There is also 2 ex-Lauries boys there as well. Both were offered scholarships to GPS schools. Do we know if there are any other former AIC boys in the squads?
