The MCA 2nds played the MCA 3rds today. For some reason the SPLC 3rds played MCA 4ths. No mention of any SPLC 2nd team.
The AIC comp needs a restructure. Aligning in part with GPS is essential and looking at who will field teams and who can not or does'nt want to. SPLC is in a league of its own being co-ed and better funded than all of the current AIC schools. Time for a put up or go.

The DNA of TAS should actually include De La Salle, St Columbans, Rosalie (all originals) and St Pauls - so that would include the likes of Pilecki, Jeff Miller, Troy Coker, Rod McCall and Ben Tune.

SPLC 3rds, robbed this morning after ref went 10 minutes over full-time allowing Marist's 4ths a 19-12 victory. Key players in their forwards with their fly-half making some incredible moves. Looking to see Saint's fly-half hopefully play firsts this weekend against IONA and cause some real damage in the AIC scene.

Padua forwards were dominant in the 1st half scrums and then eased off in the 2nd. Iona were heavily penalised for being off-side especially at the scrums, line breaks and also for not releasing the ball at the breakdown. Knock-ons were 50/50 especially when the clouds broke. Padua defense was a step above Iona offense as they protected their line on several occasions. The two teams enjoyed a sumptious feast together hosted by Iona where the two teams mingled and enjoyed each other's company in true rugby spirit.

That is just hearsay. They have to roll Eddies on Tuesday before backing up 5 days later against Padua. That will be a big ask especially after some have played the last few days in the QSS trial carnival.

Speaking of Villa , very impressed with Hamish Muir. He’s lethal in the 15m channel and most importantly makes good decisions with the ball in when to pick up his supports

Echidna , red black blue and white might be the older brother but SLC is the big brother and has been the biggest catholic boys school in qld for 50 years.
There are a multitude of reasons GPS need to align with AIC in term 2...not many reasons to go the other way.think fit with super rugby season, leave term 3 for rep footy , not to mention how hot it gets in September.

On top of that it would interfere with Rugby League in Term 3 for the AIC boys if it was the other way around

Interestingly , Lauries was a member of the GPS up until the 2nd World War but the school ( and I think the Somerville campus ) was taken over by the armed forces during WW2
If anything, Terrace should be donning our colours in tribute
Lauries was actually forced to leave in 1928 due to a decision by GPS Association which required each school to have a turn wicket and football oval - Lauries at that time owned neither. Conspiracy theorists suggest it was designed to reduce the number of Catholic schools
And if they were to wear other colours it would be green and white which were its original colours.

Further to the above the SPLC 10 A's had uncontested scrums from the start on the weekend. If you cannot get a scrum going in the A's there is a serious issue with the program and definitely not a good look for AIC rugby.

I like the sentiment from Ashgrove, the old TAS competition was on par with GPS late 80s/early mid 90s, Padua and Columbans would be a great one too, many argue Columbans old boys split between Nudgee and Padua for their sons, once their alma mater was relocated.
Perhaps Lauries should be donning the blue-red-blue with all the players they have provided their neighbours recently...I note several notable SLC old boys now parents of the blue red blue.
Re Villa coaching staff, I’ve heard nothing but good things about them, any rumblings May be from disgruntled 2nds players/parents not selected. Two parents coaching inside the program who may have their eye on next years team who are genuine premiership contenders on paper is perhaps the root of this chat. Would love to see Villa do very well this year, their line out to be one of the best I predict.

Hearing rumours out of premiership heavyweights Laurie’s in regards to their upcoming round 2 match against Eddies. Hearing Laurie’s are looking to rest several key players to avoid any possible injuries before what they see as a premiership decider the following week against Marist College Ashgrove. Laurie’s see this game as a lesser test and are exploring the possibility of resting several ‘big’ name players so they are ready to go for the title bout.

Yes agree with all of that Waz - but shouldn't High be wearing the black and gold in tribute to the recent talent flow . Gee Wiz with all this talk of who should be paying homage to who I'm beginning to go colour blind
Re : The Yellow Brick Road that is Stephens Road ( that starts at the old Red Brick Hotel ) and leads all the way to High ( with a sharp left on Vulture St ) .....who else besides young Mongo have BSHS pinched of note ?????? *furrows brow and shrugs*
On Villa ......Villa are going to reel off some wins this year ....don't worry about that. Very impressed with Hamish Muir (15 ) and James Livingstone ( 6 ) at the State Champs , and they , with George Stokes ( 9 ) all achieved selection to a QLD Team. Lucas Boylen will give them a good line out operative and Robert Agnew will add some starch to the wing spot
Muir and Livingstone will lead the team. Muir beat most would be defenders at will on kick returns and could have been heading to a possible player of the Final against Sunny Coast ......until he went away from what was working from him and started a kicking duel with Sunny's Jasper Mellish and came out the poorer for it. He's a genuine talent though. Livingstone did the tough yards through the game line against a spirited Sunny defense and you'd think he'll have to command a lot of attention through the AIC season . If the rest of the team can lift and ride with these 2 guys Villa should be able to give teams a genuine contest
