Without addressing any other pros/cons of the shore side, I want to address the front row.

I counted 4+ penalties given away by Shore off scrums, and I am sure there was more. The size difference compared to the Barker front row was obvious once they stood side by side, and even more obvious in the scrums and malls.

I am going to be harsh - but I think fair… Green must go, the hooker must go (I don’t have a name).
For me, Jarrett proved his worth in this game and has solidified his position. This creates a juggle for the other prop position - between Armati and Hamilton. Both incredible players that both deserve the position, and have that size boost they need - especially with Armati.

Armstrong being out for the year likely not helping the situation either.

Yeah a lot of the team who gave Waverley 3rds a smacking were moved to the 4ths which suggests some good depth - after the reserves were released from the higher teams. 4ths gave Barker a 60+ point pounding as well which suggest some depth in the middle grades.

Here for the advice

U16s - does it provide much colour two years on for Opens? With fellas developing, injuries new joiners and the year below playing in Opens as well.

The U16’s in 2023 when very few from the schools played up in opens (maybe joeys had a couple and view). The table below: View on top of both A/B’s and the rest super close except New’s B and Kings dominated U15’s.

When teams announced would be good to see where they came through the ranks! wonder if any moved from B’s or below to 1s! I am sure there are a few.

In 2023 Joeys U16 had 5 play in opens and 3 of the best forwards miss the entire season or close to it with injury.

And is it the same 3 out with injury ? Hope not!
1 is, the other 2 were in the class of 24. The only View U16 player that played up was Hartman and he played in his year group the whole way through. Essentially View was uninterrupted and Joey despite being down half there best team still beat them in the second round. 16’s is a historically poor guide to opens results.

Joeys S&C program might need a review.. every game and season they seem to be missing 8 - 10 players needing extra time to ‘heal.’
Thanks for the input Knoxy. Currently there are only 2 probables out, 1 is a broken foot from an unlucky twist in a tackle, probably can’t put that down to conditioning. The other is a hammy so perhaps that is S&C or load management. There’s another possible out but he seems to always be out. BTW, what paddock is the Knox pack grazing in? A few have really bulked up over the past year. S&C on the upper North Shore may need to refocus.

It does. But, it also has to be taken into consideration the amount of boys from other Schools playing up in Opens.

You can also read into this and say if a School has a lot of boys playing up the program isn't as deep with top level talent. I personally think there is a benefit to letting boys play together who will move through into Opens together.

Them vs Joeys this week should be a "Clash of the Titans" type of match you would say
