I agree WLF, there simply isnt enough spots to keep all these great players. What would your thoughts be on making a nation wide tornament where sides from Hospital Cup and Shute Shield play against each other. Would this help encourage more to stay perhaps.

Fraser Mc'Reight (BGS) - Is the best flanker in the world at the moment if we are counting Ardie Savea as an 8. He is a wonderful person and player.

Pretty good list. Mine starts with Wally Lewis, and also includes Elton Flatley and Chris Feauai-Sautia. Lynagh, Cooper to round it out. Honourable mentions to O'Connor and Mat Rogers.
Ponga was incredible but Mason, Su'a and Perese had as much if not more impact in that team.

100% but then it comes down to coin doesn't it, and being able to afford it. Rugby just doesn't have the resources to do this at the moment. When it comes down to it, the players want to play sport for a living. Who wouldn't?? I know of quite a few that have gone to League, but if had the opportunity would have much preferred to stay with Union.
The only way to drive revenue is to increase viewership and interest. We have seen a large increase this year, which comes down to how successful Super Rugby was, but restricting most games to Stan is not doing us any favours. We'll have to wait and see what the Rugby World Cup does for us. A successful Cup for Oz will help immensely, but Joe public still needs to be able to watch the game on TV. We have an U20 World Cup in 3 1/2 weeks. Nine should have it on GEM or another of their channels. Unfortunately, unless you're a Rugby head, you wouldn't know about it.

Elijah may have been playing, sure, but this isn’t tennis. You win games with 15, not one.

The way you’ve broken it down is exactly how it should be looked at. Grammar haven’t exactly been a top contender in recent years, so hanging a “statement win” on a narrow trial result against them doesn’t really hold weight.

Also completely agree with you on the trial mindset. Taking the conversion to win in a friendly? That’s not what trials are for. It’s about building chemistry, trying out options, and getting systems right — not chasing glory.

And look, the Nudgee trial scores from the weekend speak volumes.

Good on you for keeping it grounded.

TGS vs State High this weekend in Toowoomba. TGS lose kruger and rupeni this week, they will come off the bench due to school commitments. I’ll be interested to see how they work around that and what they do with the side this week.
