Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

I would LOVE to see the Force play in Kimberley 2 weekends from now. I would really LOVE that. That would be at least remotely fair and even then the Force would have a game on their hands they have never seen before. Probably the hardest pitch in SA with one of the most vocal crowds.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Really strange that you guys are so difficult. Usually you are nice people. Anyway. We are playing in Australia. We have to introduce maybe 10 or more new guys, not 8, not 3, not 5 and certainly not at Ellis Park. All of whom will feel they probably DO NOT deserve the green jersey.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Okay mate, Let's just play all the fringe players from our CC. Australia can play predominantly the team from the Force. Fair?

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

We are number 1 anyway according to World Rugby until next year. That means fuckall to us. What matters is you can't go and hand out jerseys to Joe, Sam, and Bart just for the sake of handing out jerseys. It should be the most difficult and most incredible achievement.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

As if the ARU have been the saviours of the world for the last decade and SARU is the devil? C'mon man, all unions have their shit they have to deal with. SARU got their act together by bringing Rassie back. Look at the "Chasing the Sun" doccie if you don't believe me. ARU seem to have...

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Let's put it this way. NZ lost 4-0 in a series against SA in 1949. They also lost to Rhodesia (for those not familiar, it's current-day Zimbabwe). It stands in the record books. Do you think that's fair? They split their squad. Probably had some colour requirements for SA, I really don't...

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Just putting it out there. Are 21-9, 36-0 and 57-0 respectable outcomes for people around here? Is it acceptable to give test caps to people who do not necessarily deserve them? In fact, is a 10-9 loss acceptable? Not in my books.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Let's play then. Swings and roundabouts eh? Boks will do us proud.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Let's cheapen the jersey shall we. Let's make it easy to become All Blacks, Wallabies and Springboks.

See my reply above. You're being foolish mate.

Why doesn't Rennie select some unfit players whom he wouldn't necessarily select if all his best players were available and play them to make things fair? He's a new coach you say? So is Nienaber.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Won't happen. Because you can't have a non-test rep team winning a test rep comp. SA will have to play and, maybe, surprise. Wouldn't that be something. If not, well, who cares about 57-0 and 36-0 losses and the like eh? Certainly several of the posters here don't :) . Lest they moan...

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

I never said they won't pitch. I actually advocated for them pitching if you look back in this thread a bit. Honestly, SA is currently in such turmoil locally that none of you would ever understand (no, not generally, specifically the last 2 weeks). That's where my attention has been at...

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Yes, there have been many players brought into international squads with little to no game time, then they play 20 min off the bench or, maybe even a full game. The reality is that the majority of the 14 guys around them are fit. Here we're talking about at least 30 of the 45 or 46 guys not...

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

SARU was hoping contact training would resume sooner, so that play could resume sooner, so players could leave well prepared. That didn't happen. Maybe the franchises are playing mini games internally to prep the players at the behest of SARU? Maybe SARU is delaying an answer depending on...

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

That's the point I'm trying to bring across. SARU was only given go ahead by the government to leave the country sometime last week if I'm not mistaken.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

As recently as 28 Sept SARU still didn't have permission from government to actually go play overseas. The weekend preceding this date was the first friendly game in the country. 8 Sept was the official start of contact training, all as mandated by government.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Unfortunately, that's the reality we live with. It's hard to explain to other people.

Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Government is and was the holdup, not SARU. If you want to point fingers, point them at the South African government.
